I was completely fine before last summer to invest in talent (role players like Boss and Aminu) and ride it out. Didn't care about tanking until Byron unleashed his stupidity.

Same, I had honestly conceded the pick to Philly until after the first month and I saw how bad we actually were.

Oh and P pointed out his max is actually 4 years/ 110 million. That's a lot of bread for someone who the moment he puts on that jersey ceases to ever be an All-Star again while subsequently only bringing chucking to the table unlike some of the other guys who'll get paid.

don't underestimate the power of laker fans worldwide voting DD in as a starter next year, can you imagine?

it's possible though, especially if we have a semi-respectable record, unless rules change to end the popularity contest votes

Not a good look, man.

If you've got analytics that could possibly disprove my eye test: I'm listening.

DD will never see another ASG again he he goes out West

I mean we have had guys advocate for a guy is barely a starter, and a backup plan at center (Ezeli) that has had 2 knee surgeries in a 3 year career, for well over $30mil a year.

The overwhelming majority majority of Laker fans don't want him. Even if they did, the guard list is too stacked and he's not good enough to garner improvement in the team to warrant a coaches' consideration.

Either him or Essential, maybe both did it a couple days ago. Top 20 PER or something in the regular season, catch and shoot percentages, etc.

Meanwhile that same guy has one of the worst PERs along qualified players at this point. And has been on a downward trajectory every postseason. You've also got Raptor fans that follow the team religiously, say those pretty stats that he does put up don't impact the team winning wise and are praying we're dumb enough to offer him a max deal so they don't have to deal with him anymore.

I think we all should prepare for maxing Roy Hibbert
And losing the pick.

Then if we sign anyone and if we keep the pick, it's sweeter.

I'm fully prepared for the Lakers to do absolutely nothing this off season.
We got Luke, that's enough for me tbh.

Saw a comedian once that opened with, "I'm gonna need you guys to go ahead and lower whatever expectations you had for me tonight. It would really make the experience better for both of us."

Year by year breakdown:

16-17: $25.9M
17-18: $27.1M
18-19: $28.3M
19-20: $29.6M

A total amount of $110.9M.

We lose next year's pick no matter what right?
IF they keep this year's pick, next year's pick is unprotected to the Sixers.
IF they lose this year's pick, next year's pick is theirs to keep.

So what if we trade second pick with fillers for Paul George. Then sign durant. Would that be a viable 1 2 punch if George plays PF? I have zero expectations that this will happen so please hold the "laker fans always delusional" talk

Gets to the line a lot. 3rd most in the league. Behind Harden & Cousins. Consistently does this every year.

Coverts at the basket really well.

Shoots above average from 14 feet in.
Around average from 15-19

Increased his efficiency by decreasing his 16 > 3P shots by almost 10% in the past year.

Catch and shoot 3s, he shot 42% up about 10% from normal, 20% when it's off the dribble. So clearly he has some ability to shoot 3s under the right circumstance. It's about keeping him from going full-Kobe, and be a catch and shoot shooter from 3.

Get a lot of motion in your offense where you get him open looks off the catch from 3, and keep his shot selection trending in the right way (cut 16 > 3P shots down more, optimally you'd want about 4-4.5 shots to be around 2, and make them 3 pointers or shots at the basket).

You then get a guy who is really near the top in efficiency for a wing player.

Points Per Shot
1. Steph Curry - 1.49
2. James Harden - 1.47
3. Kevin Durant - 1.47
4. Kawhi Leonard - 1.40
5. J.J. Reddick - 1.39
6. Kyle Lowry - 1.36
7. LeBron James - 1.36
8. Jimmy Butler - 1.35
T-9 DeMar DeRozan, Greek Freak, Darren Collison - 1.33

Getting rid of 2 shots from 16>3P to 3Point shots or toward the basket would improve him a bit.

Present those advanced mathematics to die hard Raptor fans and see if they think it means anything.

They dont want him back for FREE, let alone 110 million dollars.

It's a good thing that Masai's MO is to not let his free agents walk away for nothing. He's going to re-sign DeRozan to the max, then trade him later on. :pimp:
