Your timeline is wrong, the Lakers signed Artest before Ariza signed with the Rockets.

And Ariza has been just fine post-Lakers.

The story goes. The Laker offered Ariza and his agent the same contract they offered Artest.

Him and his agent decided to hold out and try and leverage the Lakers offer for a bigger contract from another team.Lakers then signed Artest.

I see nothing wrong with holding out for more money. Especially with all the money the Lakers rake in every year.
 
Mr. J's hate for Ariza is not relatable.

Got nothing but admiration for Trev.
Not just one of my favorite Lakers of all time, but overall he's just one of the coolest cats in the league for years.

Don't know how anyone could hate him, he's shown nothing but love to the Lakers and Kobe ever since he left LA.

Heck I even gave him props for hitting big shots in the 2009 Finals :lol:

I'm just saying dude isn't as good as other people make him out be on here. Like what's been going on with Jordan Clarkson on here the past 2 seasons :lol:

Who is saying Ariza is anything more than a solid starting SF in the NBA though?

His salary is exactly where it should be in this market for someone with his abilities and production.

He gets just the right amount of respect for his skill, nothing less nothing more.

I don't see anyone claiming Trevor Ariza is a first ballot hall of famer, so... What am I

Ariza's youth and athleticism could've extended the Lakers window some. MWP was done by three years into his contract.
 
Ariza was a pretty key part of the 2009 title year from the point he took Luke's starting job. He deserves some love from Laker fans.

The only people I've seen overrate him are the 2009 Rockets that thought he'd be their centerpiece

I don't know if Trevor could have gotten into Pierce's grill consistently the way Ron did in the Finals. Otherwise, I would have loved having Trevor instead.
 
Til I die, Ariza/Bynum not bein 100% in 2008 is why we didn't have a 2nd 3-peat. Walton/Vlad/Turiaf playin big minutes was easy to spot as our biggest weakness.

09 only proved it more.
