So we can ONLY sign All Stars?

So, no Whiteside, no Batum, no anybody?

Durant, Horford, or DeRozan are the only All Stars available. And since DeRozan will never be an All Star again.......

Can't wait to see how you plan on building the team limiting who you can sign before day 1 even hits.

But the ASG is a popularity contest anyway.

Does it only count if your an All star in the west or something ?

Well if you're an all star you are one of the best in your conference. If you don't make the all star team it usually means a couple players are better than you and you usually play those players in the playoffs

Not too long ago Kevin Love was putting up numbers and production that might suggest that he was a top 3 power forward in the league. But as one actually delved Umbro the numbers and saw the reb numbers inflated at the expense of actually playing defense and the putrid numbers at the end of games those numbers start to look less impressive. Similarly with Derozan the numbers don't tell the story. He is alarmingly ineffective when any kind of pressure defense is on him, king of the long twos even though he doesn't make them at a high rate. An average 3 point shooter and not really a playmaker at all.

Now that's on a good team in the East. You're adding him to what's arguably the 2nd worst roster in the league as the guy. More shots, I expect those percentages to dip even more while putting up the same numbers. So that's why I says you're literally going to have washed Kobe part 2, he tries to play so much like him with almost none of the skill or shot making ability. I'm not investing that kind of commitment into a guy like that. His actual impact on a game doesn't warrant that.

"Steph Curry reported to sign with the Lakers"

NT: "Noooooo, we don't want him. He doesn't even dunk!!!!!"

I'm for one not suggesting we just go after all Stars that's what we've been doing the past 3 years and it hammy worked. I'm suggesting we be judicious about who we try and build with. Whiteside and Batum are not all stars, but are really good players that fit pressing needs (at SF and C) and will impact the game on the defensive end, priority number 1. What does Demar fit besides just to say "hey we got somebody!"?

You give Jordan Clarkson 5 more shots a game and I'm almost positive he can average 20ppg. Basically that's what Demar does, he gets to the line at an elite level, other than that, I just don't see it. I'm sure OKB can expound on it more in depth.

I don't think anyone is disputing we need better players, but that doesn't mean you just give to the first thing smoking. There's better options next year for what Demar does.

Like I said defense and hopefully a defensive minded coach is what's needed along with keeping our pick for this summer to be successful. They don't have to get desperate and try to grab headlines with a "sexy name" unless it's KD or Horford.

We'll be damn lucky to get DD and Whiteside if we can't get KD

A 17 win team attracting a young talented all star would be a major win for us

doesnt matter what name gets thrown around

still comes down to whether they want the keys to our brinks truck or just kick the tires

DeRozan's % of FGs.

16 > 3P

09 - .313
10 - .312
11 - .329
12 - .365
13 - .362
14 - .338
15 - .247

DeRozan FTA / game

09 - 2.5
10 - 4.9
11 - 5.3
12 - 5.2
13 - 8.0
14 - 7.2
15 - 8.4

Perhaps, he's a guy who is still developing, and shaping his game to what works best.

He's cutting his Midrange shots, each of the past 3 years. Year 1 only slightly. And started to get to the line over 3 times more than his career average in his 1st 4 years.

This isn't a 30 year old guy who is what he is. He just entered his prime.

So he doesn't really hit 3s, doesn't really play any sort of defense.... sounds like a 3" taller 3 yr older Jordan Clarkson to me.

*shrugs*

Ill take Batum 9/10 over DeRozan who does both of those things better and will be cheaper.

I think our backcourt is set to be honest... why not sign a middle of the road backup SG vet and get Batum and a big and let the pieces that you drafted get a chance to grow?

If we're not going to go that route than we have to package the talent to get great quickly, why be middle of the road i.e. a Houston or Memphis

we already have 2 of them on the bench....they just dont play defense

we need a defensive big, at the very least an athletic big

and a 3 who can spot up and hit the 3

My pipe dream is Whiteside and Harrison Barnes

Are the Warriors really going to be able to max Barnes, Dray, Klay and give Steph 150+ ?
