Good point on Demar dude hasn't entered his prime yet and guys here are already bashing on him

Like CP said we have to start somewhere we cant just be saving our money year after year just because the top free agent is done. Mitch even stated in his exit interview that he doesn't expect to build through the draft as much just because there is no patience in LA...We have to start attracting free agents sooner or later

why not sign a middle of the road backup SG vet and get Batum and a big and let the pieces that you drafted get a chance to grow?

*scratches head*

DeRozan, Batum, and Whiteside

or

middle of the road backup SG, Batum, and a big.........

This is exhausting.

Couple years ago, a bunch of Laker fans didn't want Kevin Love. But then wanted Melo.

People wanted 30 year old LaMarcus Aldridge, but don't want 26 year old DeMar DeRozan.

They don't want to tank, but they don't want to sign free agents.

How the........?

At some point, people gotta get with the program.

I don't want DeMar DeRozan because he's the greatest player in the NBA. I want him because he is attainable, and adds an asset to our portfolio. (roster) Because he's not over the hill. Because he can play with this core, and give us addition trade chips.
You can't say "just give Clarkson 5 more shots...." What happens when Clarkson gets hurt?
Don't sign this guy, cuz we might want to get that guy.......in 2018.

Yes, don't throw money willy nilly, I get that, but at this point, we have 60+ million in cap space, money gonna fly boys. It gonna FLY out the door. Kwame Brown would be gettin 18+ million dollars today. Guess what? It ain't our money.

Durant gonna tell us no.
Horford gonna tell us no.

So do you all want to tank again next year? Tell me the truth, do you want to tank and win 15-20 games again, sittin on our thumbs?

For a week now, I've come in here and read Keep Byron Scott, and don't sign All Stars. What in the actual **** are you people plannin to do? Are you guys scared or somethin?

The Golden State Warriors had Harrison Barnes. They signed Andre Iguodala anyways. It's workin out for them.
The 1996 Lakers had Eddie Jones. They traded for Kobe Bryant anyways. It worked out for them.

You can trade Demar down the road, or you can trade Clarkson, or maybe you get real greedy and flip DLo and slide Clarkson to the point. Point is, you give options to the FO. Mitch and Jim are goin to meetings with nothin but their ***** in their hands. Goin to a gun fight with a spoon. Get them some guns. Then let them figure out who slots where, and move the excess for a hole.

Whiteside + Batum + DeRozan + Ingram = Golden. I couldn't be happier with that. (Unless we got Thibbs, Durant, Ben Simmons, and Horford, then I guess I could)
Whiteside + Batum + Top 3 pick = Golden. I couldn't be happier with that.
Batum + DeRozan + Top 3 pick = Golden. It's a start, but I worry about Center.
Whiteside + Top 3 pick = Not too bad. Good start, not sexy, lil dangerous, but better than nothing.
Top 3 pick alone = I ain't mad. Happy to collect these young lottery tickets.
DeRozan by himself = tough break, but not the end of the world, just a poor overall break for us.
DeRozan + Top 3 pick = Much better scenario than the alternatives.
No pick + no free agents allowed = We're gettin a top 3 pick in 2017.

Point of all this is, we don't have a savant anymore. No more superstar that sleeps in the gym, or dies for the sport. That's over. So since we can't get another one of those in the blink of an eye, we need to throw numbers at the problem. Not 1-2 lottery tickets, but 4-5 of them, and then add in cap space buys on top, add it all up, we could have a 8-9 deep rotation + a Nance, #32, Anthony Brown type 10-12 group and try to outlast and overwhelm our opponents rather than just one man superhero ball them.

Hell, it just hit me, Mamba mentioned Chris Paul next year, why do we want a 32 year old PG again? We haven't learned our lessons on old folks at the end of their career's? He'll be 31 in 3 weeks, and won't make it out the second round, AGAIN. Then you add another year to that, THEN we get a chance to sign him, and that's better than 26 year old still growing into his game?

Who said don't sign free agents? It's just that some of us don't want this particular guy. Just like some don't want Whiteside. Why you getting all up in arms over that? This your way is right and everything else is hot takes fresh out the oven is getting old. DeRozan ain't moving the needle, we'll be a bottom 3 team with him next season if he's the big signing. You have a higher opinion of him than some, that's fine, but let people express their opinions without the condescension.

He doesn't seem like a priority when we have another guy that will get more opportunities in Clarkson and Lou who's a magnificent chucker in his own right and is on that top 10 PER rating as well. He + Clarkson can provide what DeMar does at a fraction of the cost.

For me, DD isn't the main target, but when KD says no, getting a duo of DD and Whiteside would be a successful offseason

For Me DeMar is a last resort or rather not even offer him at all. Rather just sign Whiteside if possible and bring JC back. Save that cap space for next summer.

KD/Horford

Whiteside/Batum

Bazemore/Clarkson

DeRozan

Roll into next season with Whiteside/Bazemore or Batum and Ingram/Simmon, I'll be 100% happy.

I can get where some of you are coming from with the anti DD talk I really do. So I don't respect everyone's opinions cuz we all very knowledgeable in here BUT
like I said earlier just say you don't like DD for your own personal reasons cuz the whole money thing and him being "average" or "not that good" or "have you watched him actually play"? reasons are ridiculous.
The money example has been debunked ...I can get if it was 10 years ago where the money was restricted but today and in the future it's clearly not. So him being "not worth the money" can't work.
And then when his actual stats get thrown out its "oh well numbers aren't the whole story" like huh? Lol

I don't think anyone is saying pick him over any of the other players listed or saying he will be the main pick. It will take multiple signings.
Hearing some in here would be like a homeless man complaining that you only gave him $5 on the street and not wanting it. Like nah I don't want that I'll wait until someone walks buy and offers me $100
Not knowing you can flip that $5 into $10, $20...etc. it's not necessarily how much the $5 is but what it can develop into.

It isn't the player, I don't give two ***** about DeRozan, it's the principle.

You don't want DeRozan, an All Star, but want Bazemore. I mean.... ?

Answer these for me,

Did you want Love?
Did you want Melo?
Did you want LMA?

I'm just gauging who/what you do want. You wanted Okafor somethin fierce, now you're lookin for Whiteside, and you're flat out ignoring the fact I've said 63 times I want Whiteside, and Batum, AND DeRozan. Package deal, 20 mil each of em. Add in Ingram and #32, trim some fat like Sacre, Young, Kelly, send Byron to Belize and lets get in the gym all summer.

64 times now.

Not one single time have you seen me say let's get DeRozan and call it an off season. Nor would I ever say that. So.......

Again there's already guys that can do what Demar brings to the table.

Bazemore is wanted because he's a gritty defender which is priority number one in constructing this roster. And was a pretty decent player here a couple years ago and is now in Atlanta as well.

Did I want Love? No.
Melo, kinda, but wasn't mad when he turned us down.
LMA, no.

I didn't ignore anything you said. I just don't want any parts of Derozan at all whether he's a part of a bigger package and especially if it's alone. He's just adding to an already offensive centric logjam.

As long as we are of the understanding and agreement that DeRozan is a cog in the wheel and not the wheel itself.

No smart team in the league is clamoring to have DeMar freaking DeRozan as their savior.

He screams "Old NBA" to me.

I was...

Yes to Love, Hell no to Melo and YESSS to LMA

Part of my 48.5 anger, IF he was getting 8-10 instead of 25, we could have offered both DeAndre AND LMA. That interested me. Greatly. DAJ/LMA/Kobe/Clarkson/DLo with Black, Randle, Nance, Huertas woulda been much more competitive. But I'll settle for Ingram.

I wanted Love IF we kept Dwight.

I wouldn't want Melo if he played for free.
