Dear Lord, you're really already projecting the ceilings on what Russel, Randle, Clarkson, Nance will be based off of there rookie years?

Imagine if Golden State did the same when they were building there team.. oh wait.. They could have traded Klay for Love, didn't....

rmdSx.gif

People dont analyze and project ceilings for young players?

Oh.

Could of sworn thats what everyone does in journalism, nba draft combines, articles, twitter, Lakers forums, and most importantly S&T where everyone on NT is giving their predictions and thoughts on athletes on an hourly basis.

But i guess its asinine of me to do the same

You're overvaluing some of these young players we have, massively.

They'll fill seats, make a few shots, have a few sports center highlights, give us a few memorable game winners, like most young players will. But they ain't competing for a chip, not in the next 10 years. None of them are good enough individually to carry us into the playoffs in the west, and they aren't good enough collectively to make it past the first round in the playoffs even if they all reach their prime.

Their ceilings are not high enough to compete with the top tier teams in the league at all.

So yeah let's stack up young assets, have cap space, and compete like the Celtics are... Difference is neither the Celtics or us gone get far without a super star.

It's a super star league, we got none.
PG is a super star. He would help you get further in the playoffs alone than DLo and Clarkson will together.

So... I'd rather have the super star.
And he ain't no Carmelo super star. He can actually defend, he's a great teammate and a great leader. Mlre to it than just being a star. He makes a difference where it matters.
It takes a couple of years for almost every player not named LeBron and Durant.
You're making too much sense. I'm gonna have to call you out on that, because in this thread, that's not allowed.

Yes it is asinine when you're saying rookies who had all had solid years considering the circumstances, won't ever be star players.

Asinine and just plain dumb.

Word? Because PG was in the eastern conference finals within the first 3 years of his career.
Only thing that stopped him was a LeBron James in his prime...or else he would of been in the finals as a 21 year old. Carrying the Roy Hibbert and George Hill's of the world.

But ight. He aint generational.

ya'll getting this hyped over rumors bill simmons and colin cowherd started? :smh:

i am dissapoint

edit: using your logic of lebron holding back PG from competing in the east, why trade for him if the steph curry's and kawhi's going to deter him from reaching the finals?

... WHAT?!

How can you say that? Like, how?

You accurately predicted in 96 that Kobe would be who he is, and also accurately predicted that coming out HOT from Duke, Redick would be meh? And you have analysis and algorithms for how you can accurately predict these 10-year projections?

No.

No you don't.

Stop it.

Who's to say D'lo, Randle, and Clarkson won't be?

It's been 1 goddamn year.

Who is complaining about them?

Im just comparing their values to a Paul George.
If you honestly think any of them will be better than Paul George in their careers then we not going to get anywhere in this debate.

PG is more valuable of a player at 26 than any of those 3 ever will be, you can call it asinine but call be in 10 years and we'll see who had the more meaningful careers INDIVIDUALLY.

You have ZERO clue where DLo/Ingram/Randle could get to.

Clarkson, Nance, Brown, Black? Sure, nice pieces but not elites. No question.

I guess in 2011 the Warriors should have flipped Ankles Curry and whoever this Draymond guy is, and Mychal Thompson's son.

Or do like OKC and flip Harden cuz he's just a bench player........oh wait.

Yeah, no

This is so legit.

Like they're something NOW, but they sure weren't just a few short years ago.

Neither prospectives are wrong, some want guys who are proven and elite right now, and some are wlling to wait and see if we have that guy now, but I just hope they acknowledge that it's possible that none of these guys ever reach that level, that's all.

Just respect LTB's opinion on how he wants his team to improve, don't have to be condescending with your response. Nobody in here is more elite than anyone else, we all basically just shooting the ****.

Cmon guys. I still have faith in them, obviously we land a Simmons/Ingram, land a Batum/Whiteside/KD/Whatever, then everyones value and ceilings skyrocket.

We land Westbrook next year it makes everyone better.

Luke brings in Blatt and Vogel, then we got one of the best coaching staffs in the league.

Etc. Etc.

I know everything has opportunities to become better, im saying right now INDIVIDUALLY this current roster, these current players, on their own, in todays circumstances, are not more valuable than PG.

Its not as asinine as you're claiming it to sound, but okay :rolleyes

Why don't laker fans want horford though. He'd be a nice glue veteran who still has at least 3 really productive years left

And Vogel nor blatt are taking assistant jobs. Come on now

In 3-4 years when DLo, Ingram, Randle, Clarkson reach 22-23-24-25 years old, Bron will be 34-35. Dirk, Duncan, KG gone. Wade will be 35-36. Melo 35-36. Durant-Russ 32-33. CP3 will be 33+.

Our core will be ready to truly blossom and the elites will be Kawhi, AD, Kat+Wiggins, possibly the GS core still and I'm sure a couple others.

That's without us adding a single FA. Add a couple, we're even deeper, and more prepared.

This isn't about just winning one more in the next couple years.

Nothing special about him esp at age 30 he's really a undersized C ETC...

He will give you 15 and 9 which is kool but I aint payin him no 20M+ For that

Might as well sign Jordan Hill again for that

Cut me some slack, i was debating.
Sometimes you throw random thoughts out there that you end up having to clear up a few moments later when you're debating with someone.

Cmon guys, deep down you know i love our young talent.
But im also tryna be realistic here, we need superstar help to compete.

Will they be super stars someday? Maybe okay, maybe. Sure, probably...

but i already know PG is one right this moment. So, id just rather have him right now personally. :nerd:

You hope they will be. Cause just as LTB may not know how good they'll be, neither do you.

And GS def considered trading Curry back a few years ago and Klay for Dwight seriously until Jerry West talked them off the ledge.

They dont wanna hear ya tho.

Nike, the most powerful brand in the world gave up on Curry.
GS was trying to get rid of him too.

You wanna talk about once in a lifetime? Curry's ascension is once in a lifetime. He's an outlier.
In most cases when Nike gives up on you, they dont regret it
