How bout let the kid grow? How bout we've said all along it takes time?
How bout he's still a teenager? How bout all rookies take time to hone their game? How bout he's been better his first 50 games than Clarkson was, and JC was 22 his first year? How bout he's "not that good yet" and still productive as hell?

You dudes so in a damn hurry to have answers and cryin about what you don't see, you can't even grasp what you are seeing, a highly productive teenager, that doesn't even know what he's doing yet, hasn't grown into his body yet, has no coaching, and poor finishers/shooters around him.

But he can't blow by defenders or dunk on 12 guys, so he sucks. :smh:

Anyways our best tank scenario is hoping Philly can go at least 2-1 vs Brooklyn the rest of the way. If we don't win tomorrow vs Minny the losing streak is likely to go to 17.

Dudes used to that 2k progress and ****

:smh:

Russell has been solid on-ball defense... He's been far better than was believed he'd be going into the draft. He knows how to use his length on PGs.

Team defense is bad, but it's bad across the board even from Nance and Brown who were seen as actual defenders.

But no, this guy doesn't hustle, he doesn't play hard, he doesn't know how to get to the paint, or get contact. Nope, he shows NO FLASHES of anything

How bout he's "not that good yet" and still productive as hell?

Pretty much the entire argument needed for Russell

It is kinda funny/ironic to see CP as Mr. optimist now in our group, when he was the grumpy old man pessimistic about every damn thing a few years ago. I could of sworn ska and I were telling YOU to calm down and stop complaining, that eventually everything would work out slowly.

My dude was ready to jump off the Portland bridge

I see that with age comes wisdom and patience :smokin

I understand the apologist army is out in full force

But what elite skill has he shown you where you say "wow, this guy will be a star and carry our franchise yada yada". Kobe jumped over Ben Wallace in preseason and was scoring with ease in summer league as a 17 year old. People said, ok this kid will be a great scorer and has elite athleticism.

You can make a Luke Walton and Adam Morrison youtube highlight reel, means nothing. And his stats mean nothing. 3 pointers and midrange jumpers in 30 point blowouts do nothing.

I'm not trying to compare DLO to Kobe, that's unfair. But just show me an elite skill DLO has right now.

I said one

To me, Kendall Marshall has that too. It's not enough for today's PGs to just have elite passing skills

I don't think there is anything wrong with people saying they don't like what they see in D'Lo right now.

I mean the guy said it himself, he has been disappointing.

Also I'm pretty sure a person who posts in here and talks about the Lakers want them to succeed as well, so they would love to be wrong.

I think the points being brought up are valid, he does look lackadaisical out there, he looks lie he is having a hard time getting by his defender, and his shot (although getting better) isn't what was advertised.

Conversely the counter points are valid as well, he's 19, he's still young, he's not playing in an optimum environment, and his coach (although I think is overblown how bad he is, he's bad but we can't blame everything on him) isn't very good.

So both views on this should be tolerated, I don't think one side is wrong over the other. Some people might be rushing to conclusions, but they can argue that they haven't seen anything to tell them otherwise.

All in all there are certain things you can't control and there are things you can control, energy and effort is something you can control, and the eye test shows (along with what D'Lo himself has said) that he isn't out giving it his all. Now why this is the case, we don't know, we can speculate this is who he is, or maybe he's just down about the environment he's in.

Regardless, we are all Lakers fans in here, and this year has sucked, so lets just try to ride this thing out and hope for that top 3 pick, and if we don't get it hope for a good FA class, and if that fails, we'll all still be here talking about something else.

Go Lakers!

:pimp:

Thing is, I was always that guy, people just choose to forget.

Remember when we were goin to the Finals 3 straight years, but we'd lose to the Bobcats and people would riot, trade Sasha, trade Pau, cut Shannon, LO sucks, Bynum sucks, etc etc etc?

I would tell everyone to chill, just relax. It's one game, etc.

I go where the action takes me, not where the hot takes do. When we were elite, no need to panic, trust the process. When we were terrible, and about to start a rebuild, I didn't want Mitch to be stubborn and shortsighted. Now that we're starting to rebuild (properly, albeit begrudgingly with this FO) I'm patient enough to let this process play itself out.

I just talk the loudest is all.

Yeah, there's absolutely NO way you thought Russell was going to come in breaking off people's ankles and blowing by defenders if you idk watched him play AT ALL prior to being drafted. Y'all mad because you have a perception of a player that he's not. His playing slow is what makes him effective. The problem is he has NO confidence right now because of Mr. Folded Arms. Oh, and he's in his rookie year. It's not being apologist if you can watch him play and say oh he needs some time. That's called logic

we respect our elders

I'm lookin at all of em right now.

Russ led the league in turnovers and shot BELOW 40%. Age 20.
Rondo's numbers are below DLo. Age 20
Mike Conley was the closest comparison in terms of minutes a game, etc, numbers below DLo, age 20.
Steph was a 21 year old rookie. Clearly the better shooter, but nowhere good as he was 3-4 years later.
Steve Nash barely played at 22. Even his 2nd year, age 23, he was below DLo now.

Note, Russ, Rondo, Conley, Steph, Nash, all MUCH IMPROVED 3-4 years later. All of them,, across the board. All of them.

3-4 years from now, DLo will still only be 22-23 years old. Younger than Jordan Clarkson is TODAY.

People gotta stop with the finished grades on rookies in their first half of their first year. Let the damn kid grow. Replace Scott, add Ingram (another blue chipper for him to play with) let Kobe go, bring in 2-3 solid vet leaders, and he'll start to adapt and learn the game much better.

LTB, if I may, can I get a thread title update? 2015-16 Lakers Thread, Patience Required.

http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2016/02/01/february-schedule-breakdown/

This could get even uglier in February.

Also:
•The Nets have played the league’s toughest schedule thus far, but have a relatively easy February. That could affect the Lottery odds of the pick that Boston owns. Brooklyn is two games behind both Minnesota and Phoenix in the win column, so a decent month could drop that pick from the third best odds to the fifth best odds.
Bodes well for the tank.

I'm trying to look for 11 more wins to get to 20 on the season. I don't see them. We have Minny tomorrow, Suns twice and the Nets once. Dassit.

Draymond Green. Rookie year, age 22. 2.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, .7 assists per game. Shot 32%. Getting 13.4 minutes per game.

I wonder how he got so good 3 years later in his career.............

It's hard to say, random wins sometimes come out of nowhere . Vs warriors last season, at Boston at Washington this year
