This.

I just get the vibe that he wants to be "cool"

This would be ok if he went hard every now and then.

I don't think he wants to be cool. To me it seems like he's uncomfortable playing off the ball. He's probably played with the ball in his hands his whole life. Creating for everyone and for himself. So put him in a situation where Clarkson is running the 1 and he has to defer to Clark and Kobe when they're dominating the ball, he just doesn't have enough time to develop. At times he even seems scared. Like if he messes up once, Byron is gonna pull him.

I think Byron should let D'angelo lead the second unit if anything. Let him run the 1 with Young or Lou at the 2. He'll never develop as a 3rd option on the 1st unit.

I'm still trying to figure out what made Russell this tremendous high upside prospect.

fancy bounce pass against a terrible Iowa team with a defender that's clueless, impressive indeed.

Bruh you know you're my dude, but you realize we're trying to be optimistic about our 19 year old rookie, in our own thread, with no arrogance or obnoxiousness about it, right?

We're obviously all concerned. No need to talk to us like we're expecting a prime Steve Nash before he's even 20...

I'm not sold on D'Lo either, but JRS you seem heavily invested in his failure.

Na I don't root for anyone to fail, I just don't like what I've seen so far from his makeup. I wanna see him play off the ball more, come off some screens, but that's on Byron. On paper he should be a good fit next to Clarkson, I just don't know what makes him this bonafide stud though.
