Coach K will never be the Lakers coach.

Ever.

I had a much more rude and sarcastic response originally typed but gtb got me wanting to be nicer

He clearly gets it, he doesn't want to wait til DLo turns 22, he wants that greatness at 19-20. Forget the fact it took his favorite player 2-3 years to get going. We need it now.

Not really fair to compare kobes rookie year to Dlo. Kobe wasn't the #2 pick and he came straight from HS at a time when it was unheard of for a perimeter player

Kobe still showed us quickness, athleticism, fadeaways, dunks, drives, footwork, midrange shot, rebounding , defense , passing etc in his first season

He had like a 40 pt game in summer league didn't he?

I just feel like I'm waiting and waiting for Dlo to show me a glimpse of elite talent, show me an elite skill, something you do better than others

I hope he gets there this season, time is running out jk lol

I understand that. I think there's a real disconnect with some people because they truly do not see anything special in him. Like I've said before, I absolutely see what the Lakers saw when he was in college and, even in this ridiculous system we're running, I've seen it since he's been here.

But I think you need to change your expectations, it's not going to be all crossovers and dunking on people. He's already made some skip passes out of the pick n roll that most players wouldnt even think of making.

It's sort of like when I was watching the mlb playoffs with my homeboy. He didn't like baseball, he said its not enough action. I told him to watch the pitchers and how they're executing instead of waiting for a homerun. After that he was able to actually enjoy watching an entire game.

With that being said, the complaints about him not being aggressive are valid, but I think it's easier to be patient and give him time in that regard if you already see other things that he is doing well.

I get exactly what you are saying but If one of the only flashes is him coming off a pick n roll in which he never turns the corner and creates anything but a skip pass than I will forever be disappointed. 90% of Pgs in the league can make a skip pass off the pick n roll. I can make it and I haven't played in years.

Not to nitpick but he needs to show something besides coming off a pick and hitting an elbow jumper.

You and me watched a different Kobe in 1996. I saw a crazy dunker that was all knees and elbows that shot a lot of airballs in Utah. That's really about it. (minus the playoff game in Portland that did show us our first real glimpse.)

He started rebounding really well in 1999, and playing defense in 2000 during the All Star Break.

And he shot 41% his rookie year, so wasn't a whole lot of good footwork and mid range happenin b.

I'm saying. But somebody did post a clip of him going fast down the court dropping off a pass to Hibbert like it was some amazing play last week. I honestly would settle for him being able to take somebody off the dribble without a screen.

I mean he was struggling getting the ball up against 34 yr old Jose Calderon last week.

And great comparison on the rookie Kobe situation. Totally legit, not that we had 3 other All Stars on that team and could afford to let him develop at his place or anything.

..............................................................................................., not that we had 5 other guys on this team that need the ball and are disrupting his development at his pace or anything.

Yup.

Yup.

Why is he the only one seemingly being held back? Randle, Clarkson, even Nance all are able to do what they do if not always resulting in good stuff. Russell has had the ball more than anyone else on the team so far, at some point you can't keep deflecting.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT??????????????????

My God man.

He leads the team in time of ball possession and touches as well I believe.

He's 5th on his own team in usage. 5th.

3 of those ahead of him are starters he plays next too, and the other guy is his replacement.

What team are you watching play basketball man? Christ, we've talked about this IN HERE, and you say he has the ball more than anybody?

And Nance plays OFF the ball, which is excellent, and I suspect someday that DLo and Nance are going to be extremely good paired together.

Usage percentage is an estimate of the percentage of team plays used by a player while he was on the floor.

He has it a lot he just refuses to do anything with it most of the time. Hence the lack of aggression thing.

Glad we count the seconds of him dribbling the ball up the court to set up the offense as "ball possession".

Nash, Chris Paul, Magic, they all are high usage guys that the offense goes thru. They have the ball, and distribute it.

That is not the offense you are seeing Byron run. How you don't know that is mind blowing to me.

He leads the Lakers in TOP at 4.1. Touches 53.3

Clarkson is at 3.5 and 52.1

Randle is at 2.1 and 52.1 as well even though they are playing 4 and 6 minutes a game more than Russell respectively.

He also has the ball longer than both of them as well on average, he's just not doing anything with it.

You all can look for youself it's all on stats.NBA.com/tracking.

Quite frankly he hasn't shown the effort or ability to run an offense thru him with the opportunity he's had so far and be productive.

We have a Usage stat and a TOP stat...

What does that tell me? Too many stats. :smh:

Only thing I care about is points and dimes for him.

[emoji]128514[/emoji] well unfortunately Bean still leads us in both.

C CP1708

Kobes first year showed us many elite skills, I remember it, I remember chick always used to say this rook needs more playing time, he's going to be a star etc

I'm rooting for Dlo, I just expected more skills at this point, more quickness to get by defenders, more ability to get to the rack
