okafor was the pick we thought they were going with
the porzingis video got us thinking, "hmm, this kid could be special"
then news of d-lo impressing the brass far more than okafor in the final workouts lead to us taking him over okafor
at everyone thinking KP was gonna be great, off a YouTube vid 6 months ago, but only comin to claim their prize now.

The drafted D'Lo off a 2 hr workout tho. 6 hrs should have been more than enough to evaluate. There were a few I remember wanting to take a chance on Porzingawd though. I was not one of them.

What do you mean he was the guy for months? The Lakers never gave any indication of who they would choose. It was just media pieces saying they would choose Okafor since he was the safe pick and he was expected to go number 1 at the start of the college basketball season. On top of that he was using words like we and whatever and people ran with it saying he's a Laker already.

Yes the Lakers didn't like Okafor's two workouts and also liked Russell's two workouts. But you're acting like they don't do months-years of scouting on these guys. Ryan West and other Laker scouts were eyeing Lance for months. Months ahead of the draft on that backstage Laker show they showed West watching a Wyoming game. I'm just saying Russell wasn't some surprise pick. What he showed in his first year at Ohio was special. People noticed.

Forget that, DLO needs to have a Magic type game. What has he done to make you think he has the power to get this coach fired? It isn't like he's killing it out there when he is playing.
Once he starts putting up points and assists and looks comfortable out there that forces Byron to have to play him. Because right now, Byron can make the argument that having Young and Lou out there give the Lakers a better chance of winning.
Plain and simple, DLO needs to start playing with passion, fire, and exhibiting the things he was drafted on. A consistent jumpshot and 3, amazing vision, and leadership. This guy when teams go under the pick should be punishing them with the shot, when they go over he should probe and find a man open, when he gets a big switched on him he should drive it to the hole. I much rather him be playing hard and making mistakes like turnovers or trying to get foul calls as apposed to looking like a secondary player out there.
That is enough with the DLO talk for me though, we have other bright pieces on this team with Clarkson and Randle, and they both need to step it up as well.
