really going to be interesting who ends up not making the team

hoping for a swaggy/sacre trade for "cash considerations" lol, but I think we're stuck with at least one of them

I would cut holmes, frazier, jabari/kelly, and sacre

spending extra money just because you have nothing else to spend it on is terrible logic and poor financial planning

I'm no capologist but from what I know, the Lakers have the most cap room in the league next summer and given that they won't be able to spend it all in free agency they literally have nothing else to spend it on and have to pay their own guys like Clarkson and hibbert using cap money. Could be totally wrong but I don't think it's far off

Lakers Waive Frazier II and Upshaw

EL SEGUNDO – The Los Angeles Lakers have waived guard Michael Frazier II and center Robert Upshaw, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak.

Frazier II, an undrafted rookie from Florida, was originally signed by the Lakers on August 25. He appeared in four preseason games for Los Angeles, averaging 2.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 13.5 minutes per game.

Upshaw saw action in four of the Lakers’ seven preseason contests, averaging 2.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 0.75 blocks in 14.1 minutes per game. The undrafted rookie out of Washington was originally signed on September 14.

The Lakers roster (attached) now stands at 17.

Good now we don't have to hear about Upshaw every damn day this season.

Nvm. This actually will probably increase the odds of that happening :rolleyes

Nooooooo its not spending money for no reason. You guys are forgetting the Arenas provision. Its smarter to keep the cap clean and sign the 2 max free agents first and then resign Clarkson. In theory

Why the hell would you drop Upshaw?!
We are already guard heavy. Should have just signed and stashed him in the D league as an potential investment that may or may not pay off.
But keeping players like Jabari is extra redundant.

Nobody is saying Upshaw is Wilt. What is being said is based on his play at Washington. There's at least something there to make you say "Hmmmmm."

Apparently Sacre is being kept for his locker room presence. Being a buffoon is apparently valuable.

I really don't get it man... We really could have had Gerald Green and/or CDR on this team instead of Sacre over the past few years and we continue to keep him instead of other players.

If there is some financial reason that i'm missing then please someone educate me on why we still have him.

I really don't see the HYPE with Upshaw's potential how Essential and other NT'ers on here viewed him as a possible lottery pick if it weren't for all his off the court problems and getting kicked off 2 college hoops teams.I didn't see it in him.Even at best without those issues I would have seen him in the mid to late 20's 1st round pick range.

Dude is such a project with zero offensive game. I mean he couldn't even hit a 10 foot elbow jumper or back to the basket turn around jumper.

All he had going for him potential wise was his shot blocking and size.

I doubt any other team picks him up and gives him a chance.

He'll be where belongs playing for the NBDL LA Defenders.

Name those 2 max free agents..

Shocked about upshaw. Thought he played well enough to earn a spot. Maybe some more details will come out regarding that

Harrison Barnes or Nick Batum likely offered near max deals and maybe Harford. Not including KD.

Now that the Lakers have put themselves in the position, yes this is ideal.

But they could have just signed Clarkson to a three year deal (or four, but he would be unrestricted like Stephenson), avoiding the problem altogether.
