$25mil is too much for him.

But guess what everybody... We're reaching the point where they have to kick start the team. They can't keep kicking the can down another year saying well next year, we'll have all this cap space, somebody will choose us. Again, the team has to be good before it becomes great. Because eventually kicking the can will be, all the young guys are now getting their big money, and that is a disaster as well.

Now DeRozan isn't Top 5 of guys I want, but any FO would be in this pickle, going forward with this team.

Would definitely prefer Batum and Horford when we inevitably fail on KD.

Knowing us though, they'll wait for KD while Batum, Horford, and Derozan all sign elsewhere.

We need a new regime asap man.

Midas whale offer Joe Johnson/Wade 30 mil since they're still stuck on dumb ****.

We need a new regime, who would have done pretty much exactly all the same things....

1. If Phil Jackson is hired (He didn't want to coach, he wasn't going to coach, and MDA was Dr. Buss' choice), Dwight Howard re-signs for 5 year max deal.. Bye all draft picks. And fun times with Dwight degrading over a few years.

2. If MDA isn't mutually agreed to be let go, we lose D'Angelo Russell. We wouldn't keep the pick. Regardless, MDA is better than Byron Scott. But keeping MDA loses Russell.

3. If you guys didn't piss, moan and complain about MDA needlessly, all day, every day. Byron Scott isn't even considered because MDA is still here.. But again, MDA means no Russell. Also mean almost 0 chance we'd keep the pick this year.

4. We should have traded Pau Gasol before 2011-12 season, but when you have Kobe & Bynum, and the market for Pau was tepid at best during the previous trade deadline, you're backed into a corner. Because trading Pau away for crap, or a slightly cheaper long term deal, takes you out of the title hunt even more. Which would have infuriated all of you.

5. Kobe's deal doesn't change anything. Even if he was signed for 2 year / $28mil, doesn't change him breaking his knee. Or separating his shoulder. Or being 35-36-37. It doesn't make us a better team, nor does it change a top FAs mind. We'd still stink, and Kobe would still be an uncertain commodity

And no GM in their right mind would have told Kobe they were walking away. They would have been fired instantly. Doesn't matter who the owner was.

6. Of course, we can talk about the FA pitches all we want. They stink. It's basketball, you focus on basketball first. But when your basketball team sucks anyway, you're put into a position where if you focus entirely on basketball, you are not getting anything either. So our biggest sell is... We can give you more exposure.

7. The Steve Nash trade sucked. It back fired. But every GM is pulling that deal. Dwight Howard was basically a guarantee, not if, but when. Because the Nets couldn't pull it. So knowing you have Dwight when you can work out the details. Trading picks for Nash seems inconsequential at the time. You have Kobe who is still great at the time, Dwight in his prime. Then Add in Nash, even though he was old, was still good enough to almost pull a weak Suns team to just barely missing the playoffs. Even in an imagined worst case that team makes the playoffs, and those picks are whatever. But the worst case that actually happened was 100x worse.

Has the last 4 years been horrible, all around? Absolutely.. Almost everything they've done has went wrong.

But when you add on this market, this team, this **** fan base... All of these moves likely play out the exact same way, and even if something is done differently, there's nothing to indicate that it makes a tremendous impact on us. And before you say with a better GM it wouldn't.... Your hindsight is irrelevant because if you can always make decisions with your hindsight, you'd never be wrong.

Not the greatest fit, but he's a very good player.

It's he though? He scores, doesn't rebound, defend, or do anything else even at an average level. We honestly could leave Lou Will in the starting lineup he's damn near a 4th of the cost. Just takes a lot of contested shots and not a lot of 3s, literally a homeless man's version of Kobe or just current washed Kobe.

Man...this is gonna be a big summer for us. 2017 free agent class looking kinda butt, even worse than 2016. It's pretty much curry, westbrook, and jj reddick. It might have to be derozan. But it's gotta be derozan +1. Durant/batum/horford and double d I can live with. Derozan and whiteside, elliptical talk soon come, running in place for a while. If it's derozan by himself I'd almost rather just build from within. A trade wouldn't surprise me either. Hopefully sas wasn't lying.

2017 could very well have KD again, Russ, Curry, Blake. DeRozan should be right on the tier in priority with Rondo, Joe Johnson, Wade and Brandon Jennings all **** that's not needed.

KD
Horford/Whiteside/Batum

The rest

Yup. If it isn't Durant, and I don't think it is unless you have a Batum/ Horford or DeRozan/Horford combo ready. Then you gotta start going down the list.

If it's DeRozan / Batum.... I'm with it
Batum / Horford.... Great
DeRozan / Horford.... Fine with.
Batum / Whiteside.... Good

DeRozan / Whiteside... Pass because both could be a disaster.

But how it's judged is what is with DeRozan.... Also if you kick the can again, you're setting yourself up for more of the FA disappointment in 2017 as well.

There's gotta be a team where people have to realize, no one wants to be here, especially if you are not fielding a good team. We're a couple years away from a good team with our young core.

Hopefully sas wasn't lying.

About.

SAS said Durant was coming to LA.

SAS says a lot of things.

And I would really love to find a way to get Horford, Batum AND Derozan, but talk of 25+ mil cancels that. :smh: 3 of them taking 17-18 mil would get them + all the kids. That would please me greatly.

That's the thing, even with all the money who's really out there? Like a game game changer?

There's one game changer alone that's KD.

The rest are combos consisting of Whiteside/Horford/Batum. The rest honestly is just fodder.

That's clearly the best case.. That's the one I want...

But the problem is Horford will get a max from ATL. They have to give that to him. And for him to leave, he'd need a max + a winner.

Batum will probably get over $20mil. For showing out, and especially if CHA tries to keep him.

Which makes it tough all the way around.

As for DeRozan, I'd be fine with $17mil a year going forward... Same as Batum & Horford, but that's not, nor will it be the market for him at all. So realistically I'd be fine with him getting the 25% - $21mil max. The $25mil max makes me a little weary. Would make me weary of Batum as well.

Clearly Batum & Horford is the best combination of non-KD names.

Suck we're so use to having those "once ever generation" type players. Magic, Kareem, Kobe, Shaq (his run with us) whoever we land isn't going to live up to those standards. Like ultimate game changers type players ya know?

He's good all around, not elite at anything outside of attacking the basket and getting to the free throw. But decent rebounder, improving playmaker and okay defender.

Maybe I should have said he's a good player. *SHRUG*

We're trying to build a team that is somewhat cohesive and can do multiple things. DeRozan does none of that he honestly just adds another chucker/guard when we have 4 others right now that need the ball to be effective not counting Julius.

It doesn't really make sense at all to bring him here at max money at some type of centerpiece.

There's only like 5 ppl or 6 ppl in the league that'll change a team by themselves, KD, Steph, Russ, AD, and Bron for another year or so, and Kawhi is right at the cusp I think. 3 of those guys will be free agents over the next 2 summers.

Gotcha!!!! Hopefully we can land one of those if not more!

Take it for what it's worth but my coworkers best friend interned in PR with John Black and the Lakers years ago and now works in PR for OKC.

He says OKC already knows that KD will either re-sign or go to the Lakers. The OKC PR dude says it's well known within the organization and the league. My coworkers a stand up dude and I believe him. #thatsmycoworker
