One of my biggest medical bills.

if you dont have insurance go to the hospital and ask about their financial aid/assistance dept, i have an appendix removal and something to do with my gull bladder 8 years back and my bill came to $98k, the hospital paid for $90K and i owed $8 .. no insurance.....

PLEASE try this.

thats what happened to my bro, although it was no where as cheap as your bill...

he ended up there for a few days with a staph infection and the bill was near 6 figs...he negotiated it down to something like $10k, still a lot but much better than what they charged...

Glad you're well dude. that bill is crazy, if I get something like cancer, I'll give the treatment a shot, after that, I'm just gon let it ride. Damn shame u have to choose between debt and your health but that's the world for u

Do hospitals charge those crazy prices in Europe? I've seen some stories on the news where a tourist is visiting some European country and an emergency or accident happens and they're surprised that they don't have to pay for treatment or the bill is for a small amount.

I believe medical bills can't be a factor in credit ratings and debt any more
I might be wrong but I think I read that sometime last year
And it sucks that they can still collect debt from u when u die :smh:

I don't think it can, I just got my recent report and there aren't any medical bills listed. I have some from when my wife gave birth and they didn't show up

I don't know how good my insurance is. If i'm close to death from a bad accident I might tell them to let me go.

I remember seeing on the news that you can write to some state office and ask for medical bill exemptions or at least a big reduction.

Your family will still get charged from you even being put on a stretcher and even more soon as you step through the door whether they do anything to you or not

I know just calling an ambulance and being put in it is expensive

I'd politely call them up and let them know they'll never see that money.

That is ridiculous. How are people with no or bad insurance expected to pay that?
My medical bill from a 4-hour surgery (partial lung removal) with a top lung surgeon was €4400 here, so roughly $5000.

'murica...

universal health care > medical insurance

cheaper to die :smh:
might as well go to prison and have them take care of your health

Crazy man glad to see you alive and doing well

but yea i remember my lil bro got rushed to the hospital by an abulance he was 7 years old and it was a $600 bill just for a damn ride.

was better off prolly driving him to the hospital my damn self

I got into a car accident back in 2007 and my bills were about the same as yours OP. You should double check that list to make sure they did everything that's on there.

Sue the other driver for any of your out of pocket expenses, and have him pay for your lawyer fees. Drunk drivers deserve to be penalized in as many ways as possible

the united states has created a culture which in where everything is for sale...everything is about the all mighty dollar...a dollar---think about it ,is a paper currency created by those who PRINT the paper....then lend it out and circulate....the creation of the monetary system and paper currency has created the current mess we are in...almost every mess we are in.

i always wondered how does the value of a piece of paper we get for work we've done change that same day we are earning it lol....one day the dollar is worth X and the next day it is worth Y...yet i still worked and busted my *** from 9-5....it doesn't make sense and it is a cheat system created by those in power

life itself is on the trading block for money...you think in this type of culture they care about anything...280k to keep you alive and treat you? what kind of life is that...who cares if you are covered...millions aren't...then what? like i would really like to know the net profit off that 280k....it must be ridiculous.

just looking at the bigger picture here...the picture of that bill just pissed me off coming in here for the second time... :smh:

Glad to see you doing better! Although we have free health care up here in Canada, I'm glad i have benefits that would cover me if anything ever happened if i was visiting the states. Those bills are like a mortgage!

Those prices are inflated like crazy.

The insurance companies aren't charged anywhere close to that number. I remember reading a story on it before (not sure if it's true).
