Those are real nice, hopefully the season is injury free, I'd kill to see us return to the playoffs this seaskn

The Heat game was not terribly encouraging.

Nobody ever accused Brooks of running a dazzling, efficient, motion offense, so the general disarray on that end of the floor was hardly surprising - especially this early in the process.  The defensive end of the floor was more disappointing.  Yes, they were without their best player in John Wall, and Mahinimi, who's been billed as their new defensive anchor, but this is a Miami Heat team that lost its two best players and started Luke Babbit. To allow them to shoot 58% from the floor is disgusting - even in an exhibition.

The argument in favor of the Wizards this year is based more on what's been taken away from their division rivals than on what they managed to add over the summer.

Looking around the conference, there are several teams that made a substantial step forward in the off-season.  Washington is not one of them.  Their most meaningful acquisition is their new coach, whose best asset is that he's not Randy Wittman.

That said: the Wizards interviewed NO other candidates for that job, and they WILL come to regret that decision.  You hear the buzz out of Memphis around Fizdale, for example.  The players are not responding that way to Scott Brooks.  While that could change in theory, this is the Washington Wizards organization we're talking about here.  If you're optimistic about this team and its prospects, you haven't been following them for very long.

Roosters crow.  Peacocks strut.  Frogs croak.  Donkeys bray.  Wizards Wiz.  This is, and has always been, the way of things.

Welcome to Washington.

Does anyone have any real optimism for us this year?
Optimistic about making the playoffs, yes.

Optimistic about advancing past the first round, no.

This would be a good year for the wiz to get a top 5-7 pick ....would be better than losing in the 1st round this season

Mahinmi out 4-6 weeks with a partially torn meniscus in his left knee.

Great start to the year!

I thought the point of taking all that cap space we got from Nene and dumping it all - and then some - into Indiana's backup center was to replace the unreliable Nene with this supposedly stalwart defensive force who's played over 60 games in each of the last five seasons.  Now we're stuck with Jason Smith.

It's unfortunate, but it could easily be worse.  We're in the Southeast division, after all, not the Southwest.
