It's still early, but uhh....

Take a flyer on Larry Sanders...if not, Henry Sims or kick the tires on Emeka Okafor.
I haven't heard any updates on Sanders or Okafor.  I really liked what Emeka gave us during his stint here, but the fact that he wasn't even discussed by anyone this summer seemed to indicate that he's either done or nowhere near returning.  Spinal injuries are no joke, and reliability is a priority for us given how thin we are up front.

For that same reason, I'd be reluctant to pick up Sanders.  If he's not 100% committed to playing at this level, it's not a risk worth taking.

That said... I totally understand the appeal of both players when you look at the abject lack of rim protection out there.

Defensively, this team is awful.  We all knew there'd be some tradeoff if you're speeding the game up and creating more possessions per 48 minutes, but the lack of intensity is disturbing.

Management obviously wanted to update the offense, which was not making optimal use of the team's strengths, and they saw how playing Pierce at 4 against Toronto changed that series.  There's just one problem:  we don't have a legitimate stretch 4.  Humphries is NOT that.  At all.  He's not a starting caliber 4, let alone a stretch 4.

At this point, it might be time to just put Nene back in the starting lineup - if he can stay healthy.  (At one point last night, it looked like he hurt himself on the bench and headed into the locker room - or maybe he'd just seen enough.)

Randy needs to go.  That much is obvious.  We missed the boat on so many great coaches over the last few years due to our miserly owner, and the same thing could happen again this summer.  If you're a top tier free agent, this isn't a program worth leaving a good situation for.   The pitch now has to be "pick your coach and we'll go out and hire them!"

To lose the way they lost in Charlotte and then completely pack it in against Boston when challenged early is inexcusable.  It's early, but unless there's a high profile waiver out there around mid-season for the team to pick up with the disabled player exception, it's difficult to visualize an impact move this team is willing to make (meaning, one that won't carry additional salary over into the summer) that would sufficiently address the glaring roster holes.

Sports commentators seem more prone to becoming prisoners of the moment than other talking heads, so there's likely to be some overstated doom and gloom this week.  Hyperbole aside, even if the team stabilizes I think it's clear that the expectation of "top four" takes a hit when you're in the bottom four one full month in.  This team could be scrapping for one of the bottom two playoff spots.

gotta say that win last night was absolutely shocking, I expected to be blown out by 20 with how shorthanded we were. Boy was I pleasantly surprised, John Wall welcome to the 2015 season :smokin

Great bounce-back win giving the Cavs their first L at home.

Wall balled out, and although Bradley struggled, he confidence is coming along.

Hopefully this is a foreshadowing of what's to come, as opposed to the exception.

Pathetic performance taking care of the ball and no one helping Wall

Otto Porter should have stayed home if that's all he could produce

We lost to a team that is tanking by letting an all time player commit basketball harakiri this season...

Jenks Calls Out D.C. Sports Fans
I've never been disgusted with an NBA crowd like I was with the "fans" at Verizon Center who were cheering for Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers instead of John Wall and the Washington Wizards. So I'm calling out sports fans in Washington, District of Columbia in my latest commentary on CSN Mid-Atlantic.

We live in a transplant city, with people from all over the country, not to mention the world.

Those weren't WIZARDS fans cheering KOBE, those were LAKERS fans that bought tickets to the game.

Only way we minimize that is for hometown fans to put there money where there mouth is and buy tickets.

We have a fickle sports base, and the poor performances by our local teams over the last couple of decades has steadily built an apathetic set of fans.

They watch on tv and cheer the team, but they dont support it FINANCIALLY. So the fans stay home or sell their tickets to opposing teams fans. It's the sad reality.

At least we're somewhat removed from the days when the Bullets would advertise games in the Post or TV with "a come see (Magic/Bird/Jordan/Hakeem/etc) play for only $20", smh.

I'm at the point where I save for the playoffs. Might catch a game or two during the regular season but any game with any marquee franchise feels like an away game. I remember the Lakers game back in 2012 when the Wiz came back from like 20 down to win it. Swear it was like 70% Lakers fans then. Made the victory exit that much sweeter though

If Wall misses any significant time, this could quickly become a traditional Wizards season thread very soon.  We're already dead last in the Southeast and can't afford to give up much more ground.

At least it's not the worst year to have a lot of cap space and a lottery pick.

I still don't understand why they didn't call time out immediately after it became clear that John was too injured to play.  Yes, he could've called time out himself, but you protect your players in that situation.  Don't let them tough it out just to save you a timeout.  The risk isn't worth it.  Instead, no timeout.  Wall goes down clutching his knee as soon as the whistle blows, and the Wizards don't even send a trainer over to examine him.  He has to wait for his teammates to carry him off.  Bad, BAD look from the bench.

Word is Wall's knee is fine, so that's a relief.  I really wasn't ready to start hearing the "tank for Ben" discussion.

Glad to hear that Wall is ok :pimp: ....team is just off this year , got the 1st round exit type of vibe so far ...lottery pick wouldn't be the worst thing , would be like a back up for if the team misses on KD
