Beal out for at least two weeks with yet ANOTHER stress reaction in his leg

So about that draft class?
This team had a tough stretch last season, too, after the All Star break, so it's possible that we're just getting the struggle out of the way early.  Unfortunately, I think the difference here is that we actually had a favorable early season schedule, just as last year, and it's not going to get any easier.

If you look at the standings, Cleveland, Indiana, Chicago, Atlanta, Toronto, and Miami are pretty safe bets to make the playoffs.  Charlotte's playing well right now, despite the MKG injury.  Boston has been KILLING us head to head and is currently in eighth.

We're four wins back on Boston, five back on Charlotte with a LOT of basketball left to play.  We're also behind Detroit and Orlando right now, with the Knicks and Bucks right there.

It's too early to write the Wizards off, but it'll be an uphill struggle.  I don't think there's a move out there they can make that wouldn't bring back salary, so we'll just have to see who will win the stubbornness battle between the square peg of the roster and the round hole that is imitation small ball.

Not all of the teams ahead of us will continue to win at the same rate, but you can't count on nine separate misfortunes befalling our Eastern Conference rivals.  If the Wizards are to make the playoffs, it'll have to be because they're playing well and not because every other team fell apart.  There's still talent on the roster.  They'll have a puncher's chance at it.

I think most of us knew going in that we'd take a step back this season as that was the price fans paid for indulging in another year of KD fantasies, but I don't think anyone expected to miss the playoffs.  If that's what it takes to finally get a real coach in here, so be it.

On the plus side, maybe Beal won't command a max salary now...  Nobody wanted to max out Curry when he was struggling with ankle injuries.  (That said, who else wanted to max out Gilbert Arenas fresh off knee surgery?)

Blew a 21 point lead and blew a 10 point lead with around a minute left. Very fortunate to come out of it with a win with great games from Wall and Otto.

Wall + Gortat yesterday

It's great to finally see this team playing well again.  The effort's been much better of late, especially from Gortat.  There's a tough stretch of games coming up after Brooklyn, so they need to stockpile all the wins they can to keep pace.

Not to nitpick, as he's leading the league in assists this month, but John Wall should donate $1,000 to charity every time he jumps to pass.

The jump passing thing has been a problem forever, idk why he hasn't corrected it. Any team with half a brain can see it coming (Spurs)

I'm shocked this team has won 3 in a row with how crazily undermanned we are. Garrett Temple is playing out of his mind and Kelly Oubre has been a pleasant surprise. He can play. Now it's time for Nene to get his *** back on the court, I can't remember the last time he played

Surprising my dad with tickets for both us to go to the Wizards vs Raptors game on Jan 8th

!

Trying to spend more time with him before I go to college next year.

checking in with my fellow wiz fans. Surprised that Oubre is getting playing time given how Otto was treated his rookie year and he was a top 3 pick. But i guess that is what happens when you have injuries

It sickens me that Kyrie Irving is on pace to be named the starting point guard for the East.  Seriously?  He's played two games and he's averaging 13 and 3.  If a Pepsi campaign is THAT powerful, maybe Wall just needs new representation.

Of course, with Kobe likely to start for the West the whole "merit" component was thrown out the window to begin with.  Still, you'd like to think there'd be some recognition there.  It's been a frustrating season, but there should be no denying Wall's talent at this point.

Truly frustrating. Wall even spoke on it. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...ll-kyrie-irving-all-star-votes-joke/77954816/

Kyrie been the golden boy from day 1. He took Wall's All NBA Team last year as well .

Casuals, Scrimages, All Star Games and, Connections and Commercials really have given Kyrie the shine. Wall on Pace to average 20 & 10 and has the Wiz playing well right now when the Wiz are rolling out a starting lineup of

Wall
Temple
Oubre/Porter
Dudley
Gortat

:x :smh:

The all NBA snub was sickening tho when Wall had better all around stats, less help and led the team the whole season

Yeah, the All NBA snub is especially irritating because you'd like to think that actual basketball people would know better.

All Star voters would have Nash, Kobe, and Yao Ming out there next year if they could, so that's whatever.  And we all know why Kyrie was selected for Coach K's USA teams.  (Not that Wizards fans should especially want Wall logging heavy minutes during the offseason, but from a respect/experience standpoint I would hope he'd get the recognition he deserves from the superior Popovich staff set to inherit the program after this summer's games.  If there's one thing Team USA squads need more of, it's passing and defense.  If there's one thing they need LESS of, it's chucking and over-dribbling.)

Sometimes, players get selected to represent team success.  In other instances, the big name guys make it "just because."  Wall's always been caught in the middle.
Yo Meth! I just surprised him with the tickets yesterday and he's super excited!

I'm really excited to have this father-son bonding time with him!
I'm glad to hear it.  Nice seats for the Magic game, too!  200 level?

Despite all the Nene bashing that most of us engage in given his unreliability, I have to admit that this team plays MUCH better basketball when he's engaged.

It sounds terrible to say, but Humphries' injury was a blessing for this team.  They desperately needed to get him off the floor.  I'd rather have Otto play the 4 and keep Temple at 3 than see Humphries out there.

As great as it would be to have a WINNING record, the Celtics have just been too active and athletic for this team to keep up with so far.  They just live on the Wizards' turnovers.  Wall's been better in that department, but if the Celtics keep getting out in fast break situations there's no way Nene can get back.

I'd love to get this home stand off to a great start and keep the streak going, as this is the time to make a move in the standings and finally climb out of the cellar.  There are only three teams in the East right now with winning records in their last 10 games:  Cleveland (9-1), Chicago (6-4), and New York (6-4).  With a win tonight, the Wizards can join them and pull within a game of the playoff race.

I haven't kept up with Wiz thread for a while but I've been hearing that up swing and gaining a little momentum and we're leading right now hopefully we can keep this up and make a decent push for the playoffs

Jared Dudley jumping off the bench and screaming to get Wittman - and then the team - to intentionally foul Amir Johnson in the closing seconds speaks volumes.  How is it that not ONE member of the Wizards' coaching staff had the awareness needed to make that call?

2 game losing streak in a heavy cluster in the east fighting for an 8th seed rolling into the allstar break soon.

Thinking we miss the playoffs this year
