Consumers fight against JB Prices?????

So in class today, my former professor brought up Stephon Marbury and capitalism. Why is it, that people have not boycotted or really spoken out against JB Prices. We all know that if we stopped buying, Nike would be forced to act. After MJ first tried sales dropped for Jordan shore and the first retros were introduced, which sat on shelves forever. What don't people realize that they have a say in this market and we have power that sustains Nike
 
Supply and demand bro. Consumers are willing to pay the higher prices. Demand for JB products is at an all time high.
 
Some of the newer releases have sat but I think Nike/JB have tightened up production numbers because you still don't see too many retros on shelves. People are just buying less these day but are still buying nonetheless.
 
yea and at the end of the day the prices aren't really that high. people have a choice on whether or not they want to pay for a sneaker and choose to do so, it is what it is

nothing "is what it is". Jordan's cost $200 each and many poor or people who aren't well off pay these prices which puts them at a disadvantage. One point my professor brought up is that no change had ever come from people saying it is what it is. If so, people of color would still be oppressed, women not allowed to vote and gays not allowed to marry, etc. If there was a JB boycott, they would have to listen because they would be losing money.

consumers feel they have to Pay the prices and that they have to have the shoes by any means necessary. It's not that people are truly "will"ing but feel they have to pay
 
You have free will, nobody tells the poor to buy $200 sneakers. Even people will argue that the reason why some are poor is because of poor decision making with money. I don't see how that is a disadvantage.

What is this change that you speak of?

Jordans are a luxury item you do not need. Slavery, gay marriage & women's rights should not even be used in comparison. And while we're at it lets boycott  Bugatti,  Ferrari & Lamborghini so they all can lower there prices

I'm talking about the change in mindset that will be making us pay $225 retail for standard Jays next fall. Out change in the mindset that Jordan's are worth robbing/ shooting/ get shot over. The mindset that makes people spend $200 on Jordan's and then be broke for the rest of the month as well as the mindset that you'll get girls and look like you have money if you buy Jordan's.

I honestly want to know if anyone in NT sees an issue with JB and Capitalism. I'm not saying don't ever buy Jordan's again, but I'm saying she's anyone think they can change this shoe market to work better for you instead of Nike cashing out bigger reach year. But I guess not

its easy, vote with your wallet, don't buy.

That's how capitalism works, I see a lot of things wrong with capitalism but for things like healthcare, not sneakers. You're not going to change anything if they constantly sell out. Just vote with your wallet and don't buy.

Haven't bought a pair a jays in months. Can't say I didn't want them, but I never had a chance. I don't even bother now, nothing is changing.

I'm referring to your statement about things not changing. People collectively making a attachment brings change. A large reason things don't change if because people think things won't change

I think either the market will adjust (with SOME retros sitting/going on disco).

I do think JBs GR pricing model is kinda stupid though since we all know ALL retro models aren't the same (with IIs and Xs being priced the same as IVs and VIs... Makes no sense).
