Let's talk about Hurricane Katrina vol. 10 year anniversary

I just finished watching When the Levees Broke (HBO on demand).

I was a lot younger when it happened, so I didn't really grasp the entirety of the situation, aside from the actual storm. I remember being classmates with some of the kids displaced, but we never talked about it.

Didn't realize the extent of the blatant negligence by the Federal Government in responding. 1800+ people died during Katrina, while 2900+ died during the attacks of 9/11, yet the tone of the country was completely different. Baffling to me.

Were any NTers In NOLA or surrounding areas in August 2015? I'm interested in hearing experiences and opinions.

RIP to all of the victims and those displaced.
