HBO Documentary: San Francisco 2.0

I am not even sure if it is coincidence but I was in Yosemite this past Halloween weekend and overheard so many people out there that are all in tech and have all the same story. They lived in some odd state, wanted to live in a better city for a better lifestyle and chose to move out here for it. It's such a common story now. It's nuts.

SF is not in risk of a bubble popping. Only London and Hong Kong are

Its expensive but only barely passed the overvalued mark in this bubble index. Definitely sustainable. Everyone hoping for a bubble burst keep dreaming.

He's right tho. You cant have 3 kids on min wage then complain that you can't afford to live in the city. Am I supposed to feel bad about your poor decisions?

^^^^^I saw that even protesters were at the AIRBNB headquarters protesting the other day.

I think this is a small victory but AIRBNB is hardly the real issue at hand when it comes to the housing here in SF. I think if any, it messes up things for the hotel business but that is like me caring about the taxi business because those guys have been ripping off people for some time now.

Bubble will burst again.

as long as there are jobs and more companies being developed I have a hard time seeing the bubble bursting anytime soon.

The banks would have to release a large volume of homes in there inventory b4 an adjustment were to take place.

Its sucks being young and wanting to own a home out here. I might have to suck it up and buy in oakland even though I dont want to

middle to low income will be completely gone at this rate

had a friend that moved out here in 05 and left in 10, but wanted to move back to sf for a job last year but the cost of living and trying to find a place where he could live by himself was the deal breaker

I went to a photography class in Oakland 2 weeks ago. I never really go down there since i live in SF. A lot has changed out there. I actually think the change is more apparent there with their condo structures than out in SF for now. A part of me was down to move to Oakland but when I was walking back to Bart at night, Oakland is still Oakland. I mean it's tolerable and most people living there are doing it to just be within close proximity to SF. I am debating if I want to invest in Oakland but HOA fees are dumb ******ed. You could just buy a house if you go move a couple of cities down but then commute turns into like an hour. It's a give or take.

That's just it, all you saw was downtown, there are plenty of areas close by that are just fine. Funny how oakland has a bad wrap but SF was the murder capital back in the 90s lol

Also, you mention buying a house, why would you look at the next few cities over when detached homes are the cheapest you will find unless you go north towards richmond.

Everything south or east of oakland is more expensive. And there is great opportunity as more change is coming with coliseum city and eastmont recently being purchased.

When other races start buying south of 73rd in the deep east I will be a believer.

Also Piedmont aint oakland, and there aint no bart access there either

Were you the guy that called me out one time when I bagged on Oakland in another thread? I forget. Actually you are right. I have been looking at houses and am getting all my prices mixed up. I think I came to the conclusion that I would rather pay more to get a house in say El Cerrito but it is more expensive there. I guess I am trying to find the happy medium and still need to do research. I was dead set on moving to Emeryville but just couldn't find the right condo. Again.....HOA just sort of pisses me off when it's like $500 on amenities I don't need.

What parts of Oakland did you see?

Just downtown area. Got off on 19th St Bart and was near the ice ring there. There are new condos or apartments all around there. Like I said, I am never there so I had no idea. I walked around Fox Theater and saw all the bars there and more condos as well. Then I walked down Telegraph which is where they have First Fridays and there were a lot of bars or revamped once I have never seen. A lot of graff in the area too which I assume are legal walls. I felt like a young and upcoming place anyways.

Obviously this man knows.

アミーゴ アミーゴ why would i associate piedmont ave over piedmont, ca when all you said was it is nice and expensive. I guess they both fall in that category

Na but nice to meet you tho my man, cats who rag on oakland have no idea how much change has gone down over the last 15-20 years. People running to live in SF and now some are trying to get into EPA clearly dont know.

Its sad bc what happened in LA with Malibu is now happening u here again .There was a point in time where the african american population couldnt get into oakland, and now outside forces are trying to move them back out.

But on a side Emeryville is ridiculous with unnecessary HOA prices, never understood why. Aside from the IKEA and all the shopping area I never understood why it was so expensive

Instead of going further north have you ever looked south, jk?

^^^^^Do you live in Oakland now? I am trying to find the areas that I should stay away from if I am trying to buy. Oakland is so big that you can get a place near Emeryville that is still considered Oakland or go all the way where the coliseum is. I just don't know which pockets are considered the bad areas.

Yeah, I meant Piedmont Ave. As in it's nice but expensive... Like SF more or less. And yeah, they both definitely do.

We almost moved to Emeryville actually. Glad we didn't haha.

Malibu isn't even all that... Santa Monica is THEEEEEE spot.

Havenscourt and Maxwell Park are as far as I've seen people from SF come to this point the hills are also really nice

but, 73rd Ave is kind of the last stand at this point in my opinion
