99% of the time if a girl asks you what your plans for the weekend are, they're subtly asking you to ask them out. My go to reply in this situation was always, "Hanging out with you." Make eye contact after you say it and shoot em a friendly smile while waiting for their response. Again, 99% of the time they'll be happy you picked up on their queue and initiated an invitation to spend some time together.
Women like assertiveness, not aggressiveness. "Hanging out with you" works wonders because it's an open ended, flirty way to ask them out, without literally asking them out. You're showing interest in a playful way and breaking the ice by saying what you both had on your mind to begin with. Girls appreciate confidence and flirtation. This response combines both in a friendly way and if she has any interest in you at all, she'll respond well to it.
In the off-chance they really were just making conversation and curious what you were doing, at least you threw it out there and baited the line. If they aren't dense as a brick wall they should pick up on the fact you're interested in them and they'll remember that. Maybe you'll get a call or invite from them sometime later down the road.
