The Minnesota Timberwolves Offseason Thread - Kris Dunn at No. 5 in Most Recent DX Mock

As a fan of both teams but being a Minny homer I'm proud of the effort the young guys put out against the champs...

The future is bright with KAT and Wiggins...

Jury still out on Lavine tho

Man they need to scratch him being a PG let Andre teach Tyus and Rubio the position and let LaVine score. Bazz has been solid to me off the bench with Kmart.

I do wonder will they let Sam go. Because you can't have that whole "This is what Flip would've want" thing lurking around forever.

I hope they let him go.. Good assistant coach and teacher.. He just ain't got it to be a head coach.

The Zach at point experiment needed to die last year.. I thought they seen the light when they said he'd start for us at sg, and it was his job to lose. That plan was cancelled after like 4 days lmao.. They didn't even have Rubio as our starting point when they were trying Zach starting at the 2.

He's an amazingly gifted athlete but his bball IQ is non existent. He can't make the simple plays an NBA point guard should be able to make easily. Just simple entry passes seem so hard for him. Not a fan.. Hopefully he proves me wrong but he's not an NBA point guard nor will he ever be.

Joerger might be out in Memphis, what do y'all think about him :nerd:

Or that man Luke Walton :nerd: :nerd:

I think this whole Flip thing is going to hover around this franchise for so long that they are not going to go out and bring in a coach who is an opposite of Flip's philosophy. Glen Taylor is still the owner, Milt Newton is still the GM, Saunders' kid is all over the place, etc. They have this warped vision of "Flip's Way" they keep talking about constantly. That's fine, because no one can plan for a death. But at some point it's going to be interesting where this franchise goes. Will they go out and get the best coach available? Do we trust that Milt is running this team now knowing almost nothing about him?

Right now I'm cool with Mitchell and seeing what he does - and developing the two studs.

Using Hollinger stats, 2014-15 Warriors Pace: 100.7. 2015-16 Timberwolves Pace: 100.5.

Of course pace doesn't always mean better. It's really really interesting that teams are basically replicating the model when I think it's not the league going to the Warriors style because only the Warriors can go there. Others can try, get somewhere close, but the collection of talent on their team that every year will only get better for the next 5-6 years is as special as it is unique.

Nice pics up there!

McHale canned and back living in MN. Only a matter of time before we see him back with this team, assuming he doesn't retire officially to his cabin which he could. With this franchise these things happen (as we know) constantly and everyone is welcomed back as many times as they wish. Once a member always a member.

McHale taking over Flip's duties would almost be surreal.

Wolves aren't back on the road now until after Thanksgiving so let's see if we can get some wins built up at home finally. All winnable games coming up.

Uh oh guys, Sixers lost tonight. I'm sure we all remember what happened last time they came into town with 0 wins

Wolves losing to Philly again would be :smh:

But what's sad is I would not be surprised. :rolleyes

Let's just get a win. The team has lost at home in front of their fans 14 straight games and counting now.

This is a must win game damn it

We can't be the team to give them their first win again.

Pek starting to do a little two-on-none pick and roll work with Rubio. Next step in the progression

Key stat tonight is Lavine 2 TO.

He's using 27% of the team's possessions, up from 22% last season, but his TOV% is going down (20.4 to 16.2) which is encouraging. He's shooting 50% from 3-10 feet right now.

Not a good midrange shooter again this season but never has been, and we'd rather him shoot high-percentage shots anyway which is what he seems to be going out of his way to do somewhat. Just has to learn how to shoot them well, and then keep it up.

Still has a long way to go as a distributor obviously, if he'll ever be able to do it is the question. If he's going to be a good shooter some day, the long-term destination for him on this team and the way it'll be constructed seems to be out on the wing.

Rubio: "It shows that we're starting to learn not to be comfortable just winning one game. Today was very important for us."

Rubio on KAT, and minutes...

On KAT: Everyone goes through rough spot here and there, especially rooks. It's a process. Would like to see what he does with 35 mins tho

Then on his ankle injury -

Caved in and got the one-team league pass for $26.99/month just to watch these pups.

It's worth it, right?

I'm about to spring for the full thing...

Wiggins been putting in work from what I can tell from box scores

Rubio :\

Saw last night since Rubio's knee tear in 2012 vs. the Lakers he has missed 116 of the Wolves' 288 games.

Questionable Tues but reports are he's expecting to play.

Also, don't know if any of you guys are following Anthony Bennett's play this year but he has scored a total of 9 points for Toronto while buried on the bench.

A front line of number one picks was my dream |I

Lavine looks good at attacking

Damn - Yeah, that would be amazing. I guess I never thought of it like that. SF-C all No. 1 picks.

Edit: Wiggins' positional frequency this season so far. He's now played one-fifth of the minutes he played last season (2,969).

I saw no reason why AB couldn't stretch the floor and let KG teach him. But it's whatever now I guess.

AB >> Payne

But how much they were paying AB compared to Payne is the main reason he's gone.
