☘️ Boston Celtics Official 2022-2023 Regular Season Thread ☘️

I'll be 3 rows off the court next Wednesday. Anyone else plan on going to opening night?

I'm in, here's to a great season.

Things I like:

Amir Johnson's contract. Two years, 24M, second year is a team option. Salary cap is going to go up, so even though it's a boatload of dough, 12M isn't bad for Amir, especially since it's only a one year commitment. I expect him to ball out this year and collect his 12M for next year.

Our 1st round draft picks. I like both Rozier and Hunter. Both guys are confident and capable. Rozier's game is gritty, Hunter's is pretty. Hunter is looking to catch and shoot.

Isaiah Thomas. Front runner for the sixth man award this year. Considering he's our best player, ol' boy should probably be starting. That being said, he's getting starter minutes and is playing in crunch time, so I really dont give a damn if he's in the starting 5 or not  I love Isaiah's game.

Brad Stevens. Best young coach in the league. Dude is smart, humble, young, and well respected by his players.

Things I dislike:

Avery Bradley . This guy snatched Ray Allens starting job in the 2011 Eastern Conference Finals and hasn't played as well since. He's a good on ball defender, but he cant score. Makes about 9M a year, which some teams would probably consider a bargain. Trade him for whatever

Jared Sullinger. Come on bro. Dude doesnt seem like he wants to put in the work to be great. Even when he's cutting, he seems overweight. He shoots too many 3's. Doesn't bang for boards. Doesn't play in the paint. etc.

The league changing the playoff format. Someone correct me if im wrong, but do you no longer get a top 4 seed for winning your division? I was hoping the C's would get a top 4 seed for winning the Atlantic Division (Toronto, New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia). I think seeding is based strictly off W-L now. Midas whale eliminate divisions.

Go Celtics :pimp:

I believe you are correct on that seeding format.

Teams now will be seeded one through eight in their respective conferences according to record. Under the previous system, each of the six division winners was guaranteed a top-four spot in the playoffs. If a fourth team had a better record than any of the other two division winners in each conference, they would be seeded appropriately, but no division winner could drop below the fourth seed. Now, a scenario could exist in which a division “winner” could have the ninth-best record in a conference and miss the playoffs. It’s an incredibly unlikely scenario, but it’s still possible.

Tiebreak criteria for playoff seeding also has changed, with the best head-to-head record deciding the higher seed in the playoff bracket. Winning the division now is the second tiebreak criteria.

I like that Johnson's contract has the get-out clause after a year but I think he should be a good influence on the rest of the team.

Zeller was getting bodied by Okafor

As soon as Isiah came in, there was an obvious shift. Such a difference maker.

I just did the same thing

Good win last night. Thomas :pimp:

Happy to have this team back :pimp:

These grey sleeved jerseys are the worst. Just stick with the classic white/green and green/white and don't overthink things.

My father and I were just saying the same thing

The only alternates I like are the green with black trim and St. Patty's green with gold trim.

This game is getting a little testy

Agree on how awful the sleeved jerseys are. Always thought they should use this wordmark for an green alternate, maybe with gold trim. They need the shamrock back on the jerseys! I know they are on the shorts still but it's not the same.

To quote Mike Gorman, valiant effort in the 2nd half. Too much experience on the other side tonight.

Yeah I already had this game as an L

Pacers, Wizards, Bucks, Thunder , Houston, Dallas coming up :smh:

Pretty tough stretch coming up

That could easily put us at 2-7 after that. I'm trying to go to the Pacers game on 11/11.
