Lol how do you expect we get Butler/Durant/Whiteside without giving up 2 or 3 of Smart, Avery or Crowder.

Ok we sign Dursnt/Whiteside in free agency but how do you think we get Butler without losing some players

It all depends where we end up in the lottery... If we end up 1 or 2 we could get Butler by just draft picks alone I believe.

If the salary cap is a problem then pass on Johnson's $12mil and Jerebko $5mil contracts.

Your plan not even possible with the salary cap

Adding Durant, Butler, Whieside alone would be adding three max salaries on top of keeping Evan Turner (new deal), Jerebko & Johnson also hold 17M cap number together.

Yeah. Turner is getting paid this summer. I think he'll command around 6-8m in free agency

As long as Danny keeps Thomas, Bradley, Crowder, Smart, and Turner.

Everyone else is replaceable...

But if giving up two or three of Smart/Bradley/Crow/Turner means you can land a legit star, you don't even think twice.

Yes but we're going to need Bradley to go up against the elite guards. He's the only player who could defend Curry 1 on 1.

Lol let's worry about making it out of the 1st round first before we start talking about defensive assignments on Curry

You guys are the ones jumping into the finals.

All I'm doing is pointing out his ability of defending the elite guards.

Which that's all you see come playoff time....

This offseason is shaping up to be terrible, to the point where it looks like the Celtics will need to rely on that pick being #1 or #2 now. All of the offseason trade/FA targets are slowly falling off the table:

1) KD - he was a long shot anyhow, but now that the Thunder might advance to the WCF, it's looking more and more like he'll be staying put.
2) Butler - Bulls will want a king's ransom for him. He's going to be their rep at the lottery next week, so it's looking more and more like the Bulls will keep him.
3) Griffin - the injuries to him and CP3 make him less available, because now it gives Doc a built-in excuse to make another run with that core. We all know too well how Doc hates rebuilding anyways.
4) Cousins - Joerger's hiring means that Vlade is going to see if he can keep Cousins in check.
5) Horford - he sucks anyhow, and the only way I would have been open to signing this guy is if he helped seal the deal with Durant.
6) Gasol - probably the most attainable target, especially since the Celtics have that Memphis pick from the Jeff Green trade. That could very well be a high lottery pick in a few years if Conley bounces from Memphis.

Gotta pray for that 1st or 2nd pick now so the Cs can get Simmons or Ingram. 3-6 isn't terrible, but there aren't many guys we can trade that pick for anymore. Curb your expectations guys. This won't be a repeat of that instant rebuild that we saw in 2007/08.

I agree. Horford is not the guy I want to build around, the C's young core is suspect after getting "blowed out" Emmitt Smiff style, and if it's not pick 1-3, we're looking at another Marcus Smart "pretty good" guy but not a superstar in the making.

Enthusiasm curbed.

Anticipation for tonight is killing me...Regarding Horford, I think a lot of it would depend on what pick we get. If we win the lottery and can get Simmons, I think they would be a very good pairing. From there, if you can figure out how to get a good shooter, I think you are now the #2 team in the East, for sure...

As payback for not getting Timmay, the NBA should gift the C's the #1 pick.

Sports Hub trolling hard today talking about somehow acquiring Boogie, PG13 and Jimmy Butler

Trade that makes the most sense to me is the #3 pick for Okafor. Crappy defender, but he's 20 years old and can give you 20 PPG. Those guys don't grow on trees and for a team that has no inside presence, I'd gladly take him. WAY better prospect than anyone that can be had with #3 pick.

This. Sixers like Dunn and Murray apparently, and if they draft Simmons and Embiid is healthy, they'll have way too many bigs. Celtics have way too many guards. Colangelo and Ainge are boys. This trade will be on the table. Just gotta pray that President Brad Stevens can teach Okafor how to play some defense.
