Debate

At this rate, would Stephen Curry over take Allen Iverson as the better player, pound for pound, once it is all said and done?

Personally, Curry will and may have already surpassed Allen 'The Answer' Iverson.

pound for pound? nope. isnt curry roughly the same size as russ?

At this rate? Yes. As long as he continues to perform at this rate for about four or five more years. He's really only been truly poppin' since 13'-14'.

I think the criticism/mocking of the clippers protest is basically the encapsulation of everything I hate about the modern sports fan.

I was gonna say...says something about the people mocking a team for standing up against racism.

Im schleep tho.

I want him to elaborate because I almost have those same sentiments about it (minus the whole "encapsulation of everything I hate about the modern sports fan." part. I don't think it was that bad

)

Reactions: HIM
It would be like criticizing that Mizzou grad student for "throwing a temper tantrum and saying he won't eat until he gets his way." They did what they did to show they did not want to be associated with the team as long as Sterling was the owner. What was their other option? Forfeiting the game and penalizing themselves?

Longevity is one thing but he already has as far as their peaks. AI was great but Steph is on a different level.

They were put in an incredibly difficult situation, the world was watching. untold amounts of social/political pressure (not mention the pressure of trying to win a playoff series) and they made a compromise. They chose to play and voice their opinion in a simple unified way.

But rather than you know having empathy for the position they were put in, rather understanding the absurdity of the situation they were put, people just chose to mock them as if they would have done something differently. Like unless they refused to play, and a courted the legal, and social wrath of the dominant class they were some how less than. when the every adult black person in america should understand you make compromises everyday to survive.

So many sports fans harbor a not so secret resentment for the athletes they obsess over. It's pretty pathetic, most would wilt if put in the same situation.

If John Carlos and Tommie Smith did this today they would be mocked.

You really think im perpetuating some kind of calculated contrarianism?

This is just the way my brain works.

NT would be boring if everyone thought the same way.

I accept that

and at times it is appreciated.

The previous post put things into perspective, rather than the original modern sport fan hate quip.

I don't see how you could compare a hunger strike to tossing jackets at center court

hunger strike=putting health, and eventually life in danger

if the team were to protest in an equally profound way, then forfeiting game=putting game/series, perhaps career in jeopardy; and that would be as close the gravity to a hunger strike as you can get as a professional athlete.

maybe I'm the contrarian

What should I do with my authentic Jimmer Kings jersey?
I'll take it

what size is it?

yeh you are schleep. no one mocked them for standing up against racism.

they got mocked cause it was a corny move that was more about the "look at me" patting themselves on the back stuff than actually standing up against racism

Man, I'm not a Kobe fan and think this is 100% right, but seeing this post from you makes me sad. Like a kid who stops believing in Santa. :frown:

[emoji]128546[/emoji][emoji]128546[/emoji] it hurts me even more typing it. But the Kobe I knew died in 2013. It pains me to watch this guy play.

me too man.

i think it hurts me worse knowing he's a chill private type dude. not a shaq personality. When kobe retires, we may not ever see him again. Some candid shots at a kids soccer game, a family disneyland outing. Dude doesn't evn go to award shows. He stays off TMZ. We'll see Vanessa way more.
Your tears are delicious!

Some of y'all were saying Stauskas was going to be so great.

What's his deal? Could he work for a contender?

Falling dangerously close to the "shooter who can't shoot" territory.

Still feel like he can be a Marco Belineli type, just needs remember how to shoot 3's.

There's very few times in life where you truly get to make a difference. I don't think the Clippers fully siezed that opportunity.
