After the Knicks game, Butler called out Hoiberg for his laid back approach and suggested the team needs to be "coached harder".

It's not just him disrespecting Hoidberg, he has called out his team mates before and has thrown them under the bus countless times.  This is the type of player who actually hurts his own team.  It creates negativity and it creates isolation.   Granted the whole 'quote' thing was probably exaggerated through the media, but the point is very obvious.  Butler's tantrum barely holds water because he hasn't performed well enough to even garnish the frustration.  And even if he did, his approach rubs people the wrong way!!

This is prime example of players simply disrespecting their coach.

Butler

Rondo

Lebron

Russel

Randle

Etc. Etc.

I'm not a believer in Indiana and it has a lot to do with their offensive output. I don't think it's sustainable. Paul George is bound to have a steep regression from an efficiency standpoint, and it's already lowkey happening. He's not a real knockdown guy when it comes to shooting. Shooting 27% from deep over his last 6. Also depend heavily on offense from CJ Miles, who is seeing some regression from 3 as well. Take away the one game against Toronto and he's been ice cold as of late as well.
Things like this happen in the NBA, hot and cold streaks. Sustainability isn't as important as consistency and routine with a team like Indy.

Of course PG's output wasn't sustainable from a % standpoint, but their offensive output as a team, combined with their D can obtain more than a few hot streak victories.

Not everyone can be GSW and sustain record levels at every offensive stat point.

Jimmy Butler sounds like he just gets it, to me.

“It’s not even about being coached a certain way for five years,” Butler continued, when the name of former coach Tom Thibodeau was brought up. “It’s about making everybody do their job. We weren’t doing what we were supposed to be doing, what we wrote up on that [locker room] board before the game, and nobody spoke up about it. I did, probably not enough times, but I think [Hoiberg] has to hold everybody accountable, from the number one player to however many guys we got. Everyone has to do their job.”

All this talk about east being better and dark horses, and NOT ONE mention of the Boston Celtics? Brad Stevens has those boys playin mane

Disagree, the east has absolutely gotten better. Teams like NYK are better. Teams like Miami are healthy. Charlotte is better after making some roster upgrades. Detroit is legit better. Both are true. The west has gotten worse, while the east has gotten much better.

The East has gotten better in the sense there is fewer bad to terrible teams, but there really aren't more good to great teams in the East. Washington and Atlanta are both worse. Bulls and Raptors are about the same. And you said yourself that Indiana is playing over its head right now. So, the East isn't awful anymore - its just very average, with one, maybe two exceptions. The West looks to be the same.

The East has had, like, three seasons (not including the lockout season where they didn't play west teams twice) since 1999 where the eighth seed was better than .500. Let's cherish these moments while we can.

i don't think the East is "stacked" by any means but the teams that used to be pushovers are competitive now (Detroit, NY, Orlando).

don't think we'll see a sub .500 team in the playoffs this year

Wiz is a 12 rank right now, and then you have the Bucks, Nets and Phila.

Those are also the only teams (4) with losing records.

Those other 11 teams aren't getting wins by luck, dudes can play man. East is stacked, it just is to me.
