I've said this before but there isn't a single year where Kobe was the undisputed bes tplayer in the NBA, it was always an argument.

So pretend like it wasn't just because his retiring is pretty silly.

This. To say that there was a year or multiple years in which Kobe was the undisputed "best player in the NBA" is revisionist history.

Still think Blackson is over paid?

Ask John Wall.

Kobe had a case for best player in the world from like 2006-2009 but it was never close to being undisputed like Jordan and Lebron were.

If we can get Earl to PS Jahlil with the fake glasses and mustache that would be gold. Ol Will Smith "Not it's not!" ***.

Ska...can you move this **** to a central
Kobe thread or something. This **** is annoying.

As for other news...I wonder who Jahlil Okafor pissed off to come under this media witch hunt. One incident has set off a domino effect of past incident. He gets into a club fight, and all of a sudden we start hearing about **** that he did 3-4 weeks ago.

If the Boston incident never happened, would the gun, speeding, and fake id stories have even come out? I doubt it.

Also, as far as comparing Kobe to Duncan, you factor in that big man bias operates in the "best player" discussion. When people try to decide who the best basketball player is, they tend to think in terms of all around basketball skills, so big men get excluded because they don't dribble the ball or shoot from range much. That's why Shaq had to come up with the label "most dominant" for himself instead of "best player." So, it shouldn't be held against Duncan that people haven't labeled him the best player in the game because, generally speaking, most people, including other players, just don't think of bigs in that way.

In my mind, for some reason I've convinced myself that the name on Okafor's fake ID is "Irving Epstein" or something like that.

Damn pretty we just talking about one of the gawds. Shoot Brandon Roy was getting love when he retired

shaq got labeled that way cause dude was lazy.. however, when he was on he was on.. aint no was stopping someone that big and that athletic

it's shaq's own fault that he isn't higher on the all-time list.. and both kobe and Duncan are ahead of him

Perimeter players will always have the light man. Unless you have the personality of Shaq...and even he's starting to get under-appreciated for his dominance.

It just shows me some can't separate facts from feelings. Allen Iverson is my favorite basketball player ever. If you woulda asked me in the early 00's when I was a young teen who were the top 3 players in the NBA, I woulda told you AI, Shaq and Tmac/Kobe....before I got to Timmy.

As I've gotten older, I've learned to appreciate a player like Duncan.

How long until we start hearing about **** Jah did in college? :nerd:

It's inevitable. Somebody will bring up how they saw him getting twerked on in a student center party or something. Or a pic of him hanging with some Chiraq savages .

I'm sure as hell the media will slip in how he had a kid at 18 too.

You have to look at more than the player too. Think about the system, the era, the coaching, etc.

So Peers considering you the best player on the planet >>>> actual being the best player on the planet. Got you.

Steph Curry's peers just said James Harden was the MVP a few months ago.

its yall debate, but peers considering you the best > anything, really. the entire league gonna be wrong?

and James Harden had an extremely legitimate argument for being MVP last year. Can't use Curry's current production/status to drive that argument

On the peer/outsiders topic...if you were in that particular peer group, which would YOU personally give more credence to?

There are people spending hours per day watching tape, studying their opponents then put their bodies on the line trying to Match up with them for 30 minutes a night yet kids on the Internet think their opinion is more important because of a bunch of numbers on paper
