I think this is the first time in recent memory that I haven't heard one damn thing about the Mavericks in connection with a rumored trade. As a buyer or a seller. Usually Cubes tries to do something around the deadline. But I don't think I've even read the word "Mavs" in anything NBA related since before the all-star break.

Hassan is BY FAR their most talented young player since Wade. I still can't believe he's even on the table. Especially with how rough Winslow has looked. Miami needs all the young talent they can get.

Hassan becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year. He's going to demand the max. Miami's front office is not willing to give him the max, so he's most likely going to sign for another team who is. Now you may ask, why won't Miami offer him the max? Because his stats don't tell the whole story. Hassan Whiteside is talented, but he's also a self-centered idiot. His stats are often inflated at the expense of team chemistry and efficiency. He tends to get himself in foul trouble, also hurting the team's strategy.

Dwight on the other hand can be signed at a bargain. If he can be even 3/4 of the guy he was before his decline, then that's a good get.

So a guy in only his FOURTH season has wholes in his game? Please name a player whose game was perfect by his fourth season.

Yea he still has room to grow, but getting rid of a young, talented 7-footer because he still has room for improvement is silly.

Maybe next, or the year after. It's his first year where's he had lofty expectations. Cutting the cord so early is ridiculous. Exchanging him for a guy on the wrong side of 30 is even more ridiculous.

Listen man, if we had him under contract for another year we probably wouldn't be trading him. But the fact of the matter is that we don't so we're trying to get some value out of him. We don't think he's worth the max for all the reasons I already listed, and the FO knows that with the scarcity of big men in the league, some other team is going to offer him a lot of money. That's why we're trading him, is it really that hard for you guys to understand? I hope your team signs him for the max this offseason, because I'm sure I'll see you in here next year making the same complaints about him that most of Heat nation is making now.

Dwight isn't under contract either & will command the max/near max also, sooooo...

And there's a scarcity of big men in the league, so you're gonna trade a young, talented one because his game still has room for improvement after just a few years in the league :lol: Brilliant.

So the Rockets must have something else going. They wouldn't give 2 rotation guys up for Joel Anthony if they didn't have replacements coming in, right?

Did you not read anything I said before? We can sign him for cheap. He has been handcuffed by Harden in Houston. If he can be even half the guy he was in Orlando, that's a great signing. Old Dwight with potential to resign > potentially nothing by not trading Whiteside and letting him walk this offseason.

It's a decent return for Dmo if the Rockets didn't want to keep him.

Seems like Orlando could/should have gotten that 1st round pick, though.
 
Marcus Morris can be moved to the bench eventually I think. A lineup of: Reggie/KCP/Tobias/DMo/Drummond is money
