Don't think that's a hot take, anybody with some sense knows he shouldn't be dribbling the ball that far out (this early in his career anyway)
Well I mean, he's had a very good rookie season and some people actually think part of why he's been so good this year is because he's in "the right situation" which is why I kind of prefaced my statement as a hot take.

This isn't about whether or not it's dumb, it's the truth.

The NBA is a part of the entertainment business, and when a plague such as this hacking thing becomes as widespread as it has this year, they kind of are forced now to make at least an alteration in regards to the rule, whenever they decide to do so.

That's what I'm saying. Basically all rule changes are about entertainment or safety.

Come on man.

Iggy
Clint Capela
Dwight Howard
Deandre
Drummond
Rondo
Mahimi
Tristian Thompson
Andrew Bogut
Dwight Powell

That's off the top of my head and it's way worse than this. And the point isn't the amount of people that the rule effects, its the exploitation of the rule being performed with virtually every single team now. It's a widespread thing that is lowkey taking the league by storm.
Yep, basically if you shoot below 60% from the FT line you have potential to be hack-a'd
Fouling anyone above 50% to me is dumb. I still remember Scott Brooks deciding to intentionally foul Omer Asik a few years back in the playoffs when he was nearly shooting 60% from the line (I think). He promptly made like six out of eight.

Hot Take:

As good as Porzingis has been this year he would be better outside of the triangle. There are too many times where he's catching the ball in situations that aren't advantageous to his skill set. He shouldn't be trying to put the ball on the floor from 25 feet out.

Would be awesome to see him with a pg and they run a **** ton of P&R all game long.

not a hot take at all, the Knicks thread & myself have been saying this since mid-November

a Melo-KP PnR works more often than not but we run it like once a week. he's not ready to post up yet but most of his touches come in the post.

I think it was JD who posted some actually posted some stats on the intentional fouling this year. Its definitely more than 10 guys who have been intentionally fouled this year. Its way up in frequency. Not limited to Drummond, Dwert and DJ anymore. At all.

the NFL should make a rule where teams can only do onside kicks and 2 point conversions

way more entertaining

We need to bring back the era where teams scored 70 points a game. I'm tired of being entertained while watching ball

They should change the rule so that if you're shooting under 50% and you get a hacked a shaq you're forced out of the game. Like a reverse foul out. That way you eliminate abuse while still leaving the onus on the player to make your got damn free throws.

Semi srs

Speaking of bad entertainment... I just watched this video clip on ESPN of Dwight Howard shooting the ball from beyond the baseline with the title "from way downtown"... Thinking it would be him making one. It was just a video of him horribly missing three shots  what the hell has happened to ESPN? I don't even know why I still go on that site.

I won't rehash my thoughts on this hacking stuff from a few weeks ago (I don't like it and think the rule should be changed).

But I'll say this, a small part of me doesn't want them to change it because I think it's funny when coaches hurt their own team by doing it. Like if you foul a guy who's not a bad enough FT shooter for the strategy to be effective. Or when their team struggles to score in the half court so they're hurting their own team's offense. Or even funnier, when they do it 5 times in a row to start a quarter and then have to play the entire quarter in the penalty. I kind of don't want them to save the dumber coaches from themselves.

I know this isn't the right thread but i just found out Dave Mira died.. RIP to a true legend.

the hack a foul ruins the game imo... it slows the game down and just makes it unwatchable... but at the same time they shouldnt change the rule because of 2-3 terrible free throw shooters in the game... those guys need to learn how to make a free throw... so even though the strategy is lame and horrible to watch i dont see an issue with the rule
