Same could be said about shooting free throws. These dudes are millionaires. They should know how to shoot free throws. Practice free throws. It's boring. But it's a strategical move that gets the ball back to your hands with higher chances of them not scoring. Free throws and the ball back does make sense tho.
as someone else stated . freethrows are given as a penalty .defense is actually a bigger part of the game , teach these dudes how to play d and not have to resort to dumb tactics . they are millionaires , sending dudes to the free throw line is just being lazy. Not wanting to play defense thus they not doing their jobs .

Sources: Denver reached out and asked about Blake Griffin but Clippers weren't interested. Not much discussion

Both Sixers and Nuggets have had discussions with Clippers about Blake Griffin, per league sources. @sn_nba earlier reported Nuggets talks. - @AmicoHoops

Sixers: "We're interested in trading for Blake."

Clippers: "We're not interested in trading Blake right now. It's not his fault."

***SIXERS & CLIPPERS HAVE DISCUSSED A BLAKE GRIFFIN TRADE***

Are you insinuating that bad free throw shooters don't practice on their free throws?

By that logic, everyone should just practice harder on 3's so that they can shoot 3's like curry.

Free throw shooting is a skill. No matter how easy it may seem and is to some / most, not everyone has that skill, for a variety of reasons.

I honestly could careless if they do away with it or not, the entertainment value of it doesn't matter much to me personally.

However, my point(s) is that

1) Free throw shooting is a skill. Just like dribbling, shooting 3's, layups at the rim, etc. shooting free throws is a skill. Not everyone is going to be good at it, no matter how much work is put into it.

2) The League cares about the entertainment value and integrity of the rule, and once it becomes as widespread as it is now, the league's hand is kind of forced to at least alter the rule to a degree. There's no place for dry humping a player for the sake of fouling him or playing tag in the middle of an NBA game.

repped

I care and I'm glad its going to be addressed. It kills the entertainment value for me when the hack a whoever is being implemented. I like the game . free throws are boring period and to see it being taken advantage of as a cheap way to substitute for actual defense is a detriment to the game period.how anyone argues otherwise is ridiculous to me . that's how I feel about that

Are they gonna allow bad dribblers extra steps next. No bailouts...
lol since when is traveling called in the NBA .
LOL, as of now they only good dribblers get away with it. As far as the fouls go, if I were a coach I wouldn't do it in the middle of the game like some of these cats but with the game on the line hells yeah. Away from the ball is bs but anytime a dominant big with poor free throws gets the ball in the paint he's gonna more than likely get fouled over giving up an easy 2

No, I think free throw shooting is something you can become good at with repetition - if your hands allow it to be possible (some guys like Shaq for example are shooting softballs). Free throw situations are hard to simulate and replicate, but I think it's different from layups, three-point shooting. I've seen Dwight Howard too embarrassed to go 0-2 at the line when they're doing Hack-A-Dwight because it's snowballing, and to some people being less embarrassed can be a greater motivator than focusing in when you're supposed to make them.

Some people's hands are too big, sure...

But there's no reason Nikola Pekovic should be shooting 80% at the line this year (career % a few percentage points below) and Rondo is over there making 57% (this year) and a career 60% FT shooter.

LeBron James not in favor of doing away with hack-a-Shaq. Says it's no different from pressuring someone who can't dribble. Onus on player.

Just like backing off a player who can't shoot, packing the paint and making it harder to score for everyone else. It's on the player to knock down those shots and make the defense actually work.

The more I think about it the more I like the idea someone came up with yesterday. You get 6 fouls and you're out right? How about you get 6 foul shots, 3 intentional off ball fouls in two minutes and if you can't hit 50% you're "fouled out" for the next two minutes. On ball, anything goes. Holds players accountable and keeps fans entertained.

If it's done away with completely that's just some tee ball ****. What they'll probably do is make it so you can't intentionally foul off ball on consecutive possessions or something.

This right here is a fallacy with your logic.

Because one person is good at something, doesn't mean someone else should be good at something.

I was thinking that too, you want your star big out there, he gotta hit his free throws

It's an example of someone that clearly has practiced free throws and not practiced shooting jump shots (Pekovic).

Right. I just remember watching shaq and it was ALWAYS like C'mon bruh you gotta make those, is it that hard? Nobody was crying for a rule change to bail him out, everyone was on his head about it and putting the blame on him.

Well,

Correct me if i'm wrong, but hacking wasn't nearrlllyyy as widespread as it is now. I don't remember hacking off the ball being close to as prevalent as it is today.

look at blake though. dude was awful shooting anything outside of like 5 feet in the beginning. but dude put that work in.

i remember they used to make excuses for rondo by saying his hands were too big. then kawhi came through and crushed the building. then they started making excuses like guys are too big, too strong.

get your weak *** in the gym and practice. i dont want to hear why they arent falling. are you ******ed? i mean like mentally ******ed? no? so you have the ability to learn then? yes? good, shut the hell up and get your *** in the gym and figure it out.
