The Thunder are gonna win
Pure brilliance around here today.

I love how people say "well just make your free throws then" like they haven't considered that.

And the difference between hacking and exploiting other players' weaknesses is that other stuff happens in the flow of the game. With guys playing 5 on 5. Not grinding the game to a halt and making it unwatchable.

come harder Melo.

Melo was never known to be a "vicious" dunker. Sure, he's had his fair share of dunks in his career, but he's always been known more of a perimeter player.

But this brings up the point that was previously brought a few weeks ago regarding people only seeing Melo's "deficiencies" rather than the great things he's been doing this season. He's arguably having the best overall season in his career and preserving his body which will enable him to have a longer career, but people want to say Melo has "fallen off" or needs to "come harder".

I really think it would be fair to say Melo is underrated at this point in his career.

He also said he could average a triple-double in a season if he really wanted to. I don't believe it.

Lebron is a Hell of a basketball player, but it's ridiculous for him or people to really believe he can fill a stat sheet like that on a nightly basis in todays game. It's just not happening.

As for the free-throw discussion: If they're putting in the work towards improving their free throws and still not seeing tangible results, then something needs to change. It's either form, the way they hold the ball or even their follow through. The bottom line is, if you're really about improving something you have a deficiency in, you'd look into every avenue available that leads you towards improvement. It just doesn't stop with shooting an X amount of free throws in Y amount of hours.

If I was Dwight Howard or DeAndre Jordan trying everything to fix my free throw percentage and still cant, then I'd consider trying to shoot them underhand or just go for the backboard. But like many others have previously said, it's a pride thing and their pride is more important than their teams success.

Which isn't surprising, because those guys are two losers who haven't amounted to jack **** in their NBA careers.

It's really really hard to change your form and keep it consistent when' you're fatigued though. Especially when you don't have natural touch for shooting.

I understand the strategy if your playing the game . It's within the rules but as a fan . Ehh once they start doing that hacking ish it does make the game unwatchable and I'll change the channel .

You're meaning to tell me it takes a lot of exerted physical effort to throw a basketball underhand or aim for the backboard? Isn't the whole point of shooting a free throw that way to save effort?

its hard for any and everyone to maintain form while tired. that point is irrelevant. you practice so it doesn't affect you as much.
Google the Buster Posey rule, my man. All it took was for one man with a "sensitive" leg to change the way catchers play their position now. One of the msot exciting plays in baseball wiped away. You can no longer block the plate. You have to give the runner a clear lane to the plate or it's an automatic run.

All because of one guy. Crazy, huh?
might have to look up the definitions, dont quote me on this but... im pretty sure not being allowed to slide, and not being allowed to block the plate are a different. i might need a lifeline tho to be sure. brb.

but... im pretty sure

Well next time don't reply to me until you are absolutely sure.

Also it's not just a couple guys anymore. Over 20 players have been hacked at least once this season. Hacking is WAY up compared to last season.

That was from a month ago, that 139 number is from mid-December. We're on pace for well over 400 hacks this year, probably closer to 500.

Last year only 4% of games had at least one hack, this year it's 12%.

10 double digit leads blown by them young pups this year :x

My god KAT is an absolute BEAST. To see him and Wiggins do damage on both ends of the court is a sight to see. I can't wait until they become a competitive team.

I hope you planning on living until 100.

I was responding to your point about switching forms and stuff. It's about muscle memory and being comfortable shooting a certain way. All of that is drastically harder to keep consistent when you've shot a certain way your entire life, when you're tired, and when you have no natural shooting touch. It's why you rarely see anyone in the league completely change their form.

The backboard thing is a good idea IMO. The underhand thing is silly though. I really really doubt anyone that can't shoot 50% normally is going to be better shooting underhand. It's a hard shot. It needs to be soft with a lot of arc.

It's mental with Dwight and FTs.

So send him to a shrink or have him under hypnosis or something. Have him envision lessening his child support payments everytime he makes a free throw. ANYTHING would help

I understand where you're coming from, but it still takes less effort than how you'd traditionally shoot a free throw. Hell, someone even mentioned shooting with one hand with your arm extended as far out as you can. That sounds better than just shooting like someone who has a natural shooting touch.

ummm.... this is weird criteria. what counts as a hack? does fouling to stop the clock count? and theyre counting individual fouls to inflate the number? eghhhhh on this chart.

When I said for Melo to come harder, I am implying that he should've went harder on the dunk attempt.
Looked like he's got no lift on that two handed dunk attempt.

Other than that, Melo's good with me.

melo was never a high flier tho lol. cant expect too much lift. just good enough lift.

Thanks for posting that. I felt like I'd been seeing it a lot more this season than in the past. Interesting to see just how much it has increased.
