Drake and Steph Curry were super protected during their late night burger run -- in fact, even the BATHROOM was cleared out when Drake had to pee ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Check this out ... Drake and Steph his up the fast food joint in Alameda, CA (right by where the Warriors play) around 1 AM on Thursday morning with a crew of 15 people ... including bodyguards.

We're told both Drake and Steph were super nice and friendly -- each ordering up a double-double burger with animal style fries ... and Drake got the check.

But when Drake had to drain the lizard, witnesses at the burger joint tell us they cleared out the bathroom and locked the door so Drizzy had total privacy.

There's more ... we're told Drake went on the restaurant intercom and shouted his love for "Dub Nation" ... and when Curry's food was ready, Drake yelled, "STEPH CURRY FOR THE FRIES, THO!"

Everyone cheered ... it was awesome.

BTW, Steph's wife Ayesha was there too and ordered her burger "protein style" -- which is a lettuce wrap instead of a bun.

Good times.
