I wonder what kind of player Bleph would be. Steph's shooting with Blake's athleticism? :x

Just like how when we foul people at the basket instead of giving them the open dunk, I think people should just start fouling Steph at the 3 point line instead of giving him the open shot :nerd:

Damn Marc with the Yao injury.

Hopefully, he gets into great shape in the offseason once he heals from the surgery.

He has a better chance of making all 3 free throws than making the 3 itself

Slippery slope. Don't want to start a hack a curry trend now

but that's so tricky because he gets in the shooting motion so quick, he's liable to get 3 fts easy. and possibly the and-1

Anderson Varejao spread word to friends that he was coming to the Warriors several hours before the team acknowledged any agreement, and a full day before he actually signed a contract.

The veteran forward/center was that excited and anxious to become the newest member of the defending champions, and his outlook remained bright after he joined them in Atlanta on Monday.

“I’m very excited to be here,” he told reporters in Atlanta, after the 102-92 win over the Hawks. “I’m very excited for the opportunity. I got to know the guys a little bit tonight and it’s a fun group.”

Varejao, 33, conceded that Warriors guard Leandro Barbosa, one of his teammates on the Brazilian National team, reached out with a recruiting pitch over the weekend. Barbosa, however, is not the only familiar face he saw upon arrival.
.
“I played with Marreese Speights, Barbosa, Shaun Livingston and Luke Walton,” Varejao said. "I know how special Steph (Curry) is, and Klay (Thompson) and Draymond (Green) and (Andre) Iguodala – everybody.”

Varejao, 33, said that was among the reasons he chose the Warriors over several other teams that were interested once he cleared waivers Sunday and became a free agent.

“There were other teams ... but I chose to come here,” he said. “It’s a great organization, very well coached and with these special guys.

“... I’m glad I came here, because I can tell they love each other. That’s what it’s about. When you want to win, you have to be like they are. Friends that have fun out there, have fun in the locker room. I’ve been here for a couple hours, but I can tell. I can tell this group, they love each other.”

Varejao is in his 12th season and had spent his entire NBA career with the Cavaliers. His best season was 2012-13, when he was averaging 14.1 points and an NBA-best 14.4 rebounds before being sidelined for the final 57 games after undergoing quadriceps surgery and being diagnosed with a blood clot in his lung.

Cleveland traded him to the Trail Blazers last Thursday, after which Portland waived him. Varejao hit the free-agent market 48 hours later.

Varejao dressed Monday night but did not enter the game. He is expected to be ready to play Wednesday, when the Warriors face the Heat in Miami.

Best way to win against the Dubs. Pretend to tackle Curry by accident as you run to contest the 3 pt shot. Have your teammate trip you on purpose so the tackle looks better :nerd:

Phil back to Lakers?????

Phil Jackson 'definitely in play' to join the Lakers in 2017

With the Los Angeles Lakers struggles over the past few seasons, the management team that has built the recent rosters has understandably started to feel their as though their seats are a little warmer. Lakers vice president of basketball operations Jim Buss set a deadline for himself to get the Lakers back to at least the Western Conference Finals by next year (the summer of 2017, a deadline his sister has said multiple times that she will hold him to), and reaching that goal appears highly unlikely.

This deadline, coupled with the Lakers' struggles, have led to rumors of a Lakers' reunion with former head coach Phil Jackson, who would take over basketball operations in his third stint with the team. While the chances of Jackson joining the Lakers this summer were shot down by a recent report, and Jeanie Buss herself said that she is not trying to lure her fiancee to run her basketball team, rumors persist that the man known as the Zen Master could return to run the organization he coached to five of their 16 NBA championships.

Bill Oram of the O.C. Register appeared on Kurt Helin's PBT Podcast, and he reported that there was a definite possibility of an eventual Jackson reunion should Jim Buss not pull off a miracle and return the team from the lottery to contention in a single offseason (emphasis mine):

"I don't see [a Jackson return this summer] happening, and again I'd have to be reminded what his buyout or opt-out with the Knicks is, because it's not this summer. He's locked in for another year. I do think it's entirely possible in one more year, that wouldn't surprise me at all.

Do I think that is the right decision? I don't know, I think that the Lakers would probably be well served to kind of get out of the same gene pool that they've been in for the last 20 years and move forward, but Jeanie obviously has a very intimate relationship with Phil and it probably makes more sense for them to be in the same organization than in different organizations. I think that's definitely going to be in play, if they don't change things up and hire some top level management this year, I think that when Phil becomes available if the Lakers are still in the market, it's going to be a natural fit."

Jackson has had some success since joining the New York Knicks as team president, most notably in drafting standout rookie Kristaps Porzingis with the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

However, Marc Berman of the New York Post reported that Jackson does have an opt out in the summer of 2017, and while the Knicks apparently think Jackson will complete his contract, it would make some level of sense for him to want to be closer to his fiancee, who just also happens to (possibly) have an opening that summer for the exact position Phil would want.

Most of this is speculative for now, but it appears that Phil Jackson could indeed find his way back to the Lakers. Again. Whether or not it will happen or if it would be a positive remains to be seen.

Ehhh, good riddance if he leaves.

While anybody is better than Dolan, Phil as a GM leaves much to be desired. Can take his Triangle with him.

Hopefully if he bounced, Knicks hire Thibs and hire an analytics guy and call it a day.

This was a GREAT move getting him. Now he'll unleash all the secrets of the Cavs to the Dubs.
