I can't help but accuse you of making that assertion based on Dame's current scoring streak. Portland's record isn't strong enough for Lillard to be a legitimate MVP candidate. I also think C.J.'s foray into the national spotlight as MIP could "negatively" impact Dame's candidacy.

"Probably" is a lofty choice of word. I still think Houston gets in over Portland down the stretch.

I'm not intentionally trying to help you defend Beard or the Rockets, but if you don't include D12 (who missed half the regular season), McCollum is absolutely a better player at this point of the season than Ariza was last year.

Whoa, not to sidetrack the discussion, but Kawhi is currently in your top 5? I don't have Leonard over Davis conclusively, and CP3, Beard, Boogie, PG are all up for debate if we're splitting hairs.
 
I just named 5 players. But I do think Kawhi has an argument. Arguably the best defensive player in the league (or top 2) and he's improved offensively each season to the point that he's now averaging 20 a game on 51/48/87 shooting.

Strongly dislike "prisoner of the moment" opinions. Beard ain't top 10 though! Lulz. We all know he can't defend for ish, but Harden's an elite ball-dominant facilitator. No perimeter player other than DeRozan is close to drawing as many FTs as Beard does nightly. At a 87% clip to boot. Second in the league in scoring. 3PT shooting is slightly down, but 35% ain't horrible off damn near 8 attempts per game. TOs and defense are and always will be an issue for Harden.

The turnovers are a coaching issue. No player movement. JBB is content running iso PnR, with guys spread in the corner. Never run harden off the ball. He literally has to do everything. Defense is slightly coaching, mostly effort.

2 years ago Chris Paul missed 18 games due to an injured shoulder. The Clippers winning percentage up to that point (in 35 games) was 66%. Blake led the team to a winning percentage of 66% in those 18 games without Chris Paul.


if you are going to continue on this ill advised idea, wouldn't you have to have Chris Paul as a top 5 or higher player in the league? If he can lead a team to 55+ uear after hear where the 2nd best player is Blake and he isn't even a top 20 player in the league. That's rather impressive.


Lastly, you had the audacity to put Melo's fat *** on your list. The knicks are trash with or without him. Pleas explain to me how he is anywhere near that list if youe want to point towards team success.
