Like I said, I understand being wary... and I think Mudiay will be good so it's not like we're settling on him, but when the Knicks are this terrible, I have no problem swinging for the fences and hoping a guy like Porzingis becomes a star.

If we take either PG that's available, I won't be mad. But our window with Melo is pretty short to be honest, and we shouldn't ignore a prospect just because he doesn't fit with Melo perfectly. I know we want to win with Melo while we have him, but this is also a player we want with the team for the next 7+ years, well beyond Carmelo's window/prime.

He'll need time, but I'm OK with that. Russell or Mudiay I'm also on board with for different reasons. No complaints of we end up with them. Samr with Okafor. He has his concerns but you don't pass up on his offensive talent. You take him and figure it out. I'm less thrilled at taking a lower tiered prospect and trading back...unless the offer is too good to pass up.

Assuming it all pans out, you can have a floor spacing, 3 point shooting 7 footer who can also block shots and be a rim protector. He's mobile enough to put the ball on the floor, be solid enough in pick and roll defense as well. He isn't going to bang down low, doesn't have a back to the basket game right now, and isn't the quickest reacting on the floor, but you can hope to improve some of those things.

He wants to be in the NBA, he has the physical tools, he has the shooting stroke, so there's that. Best case scenario, he can be your modern day rim protector as well as a floor spacing, 3 point shooting 7'1 mobile big man. A very valuable combination.
