I did that when I was the OP of the season thread, I don't remember any bet being honoured.
It would be legit if Big J kept page 1 updated with all the official bets

Agreed wholeheartedly.I get the cynicism, but I think people are forgetting how improved the NBA thread ended last season.Originally Posted by toine2983It would be nice for the S&T NBA thread to be strictly about basketball butOriginally Posted by DarthSka
Crazy idea for this season:
Talk basketball.
Keep agendas to a minimum.
There's an elite Chris Paul thread, a Kobe haters thread, a Kobe appreciation thread, a Lebby haters thread, a Lebby fan thread, etc.
Use them.
Also, disrespect will not be tolerated. "Man, shut your clown *** up" = "I don't really like this screen name."
It's hard to imagine that actually coming to fruition given how the NBA thread has been the last few years. There are dudes who post nothing basketball related unless it's their specific agenda.
They wouldn't be able to post in this thread at all.........
On second thought, I'm in full support of this. It won't be easy but I commend your attempt.
And the attempt isn't to eliminate agendas; that's like trying to enforce beliefs. It's impossible. But we all get who has what agendas. I would bet that 90% of S&T knows where I stand w/ Kobe. But do I say something EVERY time he plays? Not even close. Every time he screws up? Not even close. Every now and then?*shrugs*
So that gets to a discussion about how much is too much, a discussion that took place in last season's thread.
Answer: when discussion comes to a halt every time you post.
Like right now, everyone's all happy for the new thread, new season, but if my agenda were so important to me that every one of my posts so far were anti-Kobe, I guarantee there would be other anti-Kobe people chirping w/ me and then Kobe fans chirping and now the happiness for the new new season is gone, because of me and my agenda.
That's up to ME to realize that I throw it out there too much. That's up to ME to scale back some.
Another gauge of when it's too much: when the people opposite your agenda can't post without you quoting them, addressing them, criticizing them, and/or mocking them.
Putting both of those to an example: in the NT NBA Redraft, Mamba MVP had a top 10 pick, and grabbed Kobe.
I literally joked about it one time, in the entire thread. I made one joke about how the only reason Kobe cracked the Top 10 was because a Kobe fan had a top 10 pick.
And that was it. I didn't mention it every time I posted. I didn't clown Mamba every time he posted.
