90s heads don't know how athletic new guys are.

They don't and I'm one of them. Athletes today are bigger, stronger, faster. Put Russ in Stocktons NBA era of rules he'll still be effective. Put Stockton as he was in the NBA today he's food tryna guard Russ. John has never faced a PG like Russ at any level. Russ is one of the most athletic PGs of all time. Add that to his mentality and Stockton would be overmatched. IMO

Stockton 6'1 174
Russ 6'3 187

With athletic advantages in every category no coach would even give Stockton that assignment. Food

Only players from the previous decades that can guard Russ would be Magic, The Glove, and Isaiah
Can't think of anyone else

Sure, Russ is bigger, stronger, faster... but once Stockton steals the ball from him and Russ fouls him out of frustration, his athletic advantage won't matter when he's on the bench in foul trouble.

I'm one of Westbrook's biggest fans, but a skilled guy like Stockton would find a way to even the playing field.

This is silly because it wouldn't fall on stockton anyway. No one player is stopping any great player from any era. Defending great players is a team effort. It isn't this one on one thing so saying Russ would destroy stockton one on one is foolish because he wouldn't be the only one guarding him. It's a team game for a reason.

I'm glad that in today's NBA, we're still talking about Player A defending Player B for 48 minutes of a basketball game.

Because that happens all the time.

And that's how we should judge them.

Derrick Rose says he is feeling more comfortable on the floor as he continues to recover from a left orbital fracture, but Chicago Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg acknowledged Sunday that Rose may be dealing with blurred vision for a few more months.

Rose suffered the fracture during the Bulls' first training camp practice Sept. 29. He's admitted there have been problems with double vision since having surgery Sept. 30.

"[The doctors] said it could be as long as three months," Hoiberg said. "But [the vision] has continued to improve, and that's obviously a positive."

One bad hit, and Derrick Rose may not see his kids graduate from high school. Literally.

NBA fans get so caught up in One player stopping another, or being "better" than another.

And I get it. It helps romanticize the game and makes for debates, conversation, and some good excitement.

However, it just doesn't work like that. No one is stopping a Russell Westbrook, or a Lebron, or Steph or any great player one on one. Teams defend, Teams win, Teams lose. Basketball is a team game.

I agree however in that case we could never compare anyone ever. You'd have to adjust everything for all parties on the court. Strengths and weaknesses.

Part of the fun of sports are these debates. It's all opinion. There are some older then us who don't believe Mike is the best. These debates while pointless at the end of the day make the sport more exciting. IMO

No I get you. I understand it completely. I'm suckered into these arguments and debates too. It's fun. It's part of what makes being a fan so spectacular. I get it 100%. What i'm simply getting at, is that the reality and actuality of the situation is that no one player can defend another great player by himself in real life. Beyond Russ vs John, I'm talking in general as well.

I get your point. What's funny that the thread probably forgot or the new guys don't realize is we were thread enemies last season. I don't even remember what the beef was over. Ha ha ha

Respect homie.

I'm sure most of us expected Steph to pass his dad for most career three pointers one day. But in his seventh season? So amazing. Congrats to Steph.

soooooo ummmmm some  of yall just going throw russ's name around like dude aint a physical freak..

how many russ's are there currently in today's NBA?

and there weren't athletic dudes in the league in the 90s?

and the bulls would have thrown Jordan or pippen at him constantly.. and probably had rodman and pippen take turns on KD

This Steph passing folks in 3 pointers made thing is getting old. Certainly a feat, but nobody is shooting 600+ 3 pointers in the nba until recently. Jason Kidd is #5 all time

Let's focus on something else more impressive. Like how many times he hits 50/40/90 in his career.

MVP Rose before the injury.

Your point about Pippen and Rodamn depends on what eras rules they play under. The league is a different place.

so two dudes, one who is dressed in suits most of the time, that's why Stockton cant play in today's league..

like Duncan aint still out there putting in work.. hell I don't see chris paul breaking dudes down physically.. steph is some athletic freak all of a sudden?
