I know about last season, thought you were talking about this year. They've just recently gone more triangle heavy in the past couple games. The common denominator going back to mda is kobe, he's the one that insists on it and from what I know the princeton isn't that much different from the triangle anyway.
Yeah I agree. They are sisters if you will, from offensive sets. The only thing I disagree with, is that LAL been running a lot of triangle this season even dating to the preseason. (Against Maccabi, GSW, off the top of my head it's almost all they ran)
Kobe's been in the triangle for so long, that all of his motions on the floor (where he catches the ball, where he operates, etc.) are triangle influenced. His influence bleeds over to the coaching, and the players and as a result they end up running triangle. It's all Kobe knows.
The proof of this is that every coach the Lakers have had since PJ left in 04' the Lakers ran triangle a lot. Hamblen, Rudy, PJ again, Mike Brown, MDA, Byron, they all ran a lot of triangle. Common demoninator? Kobe.
Byron has always used triangle sets. Especially in Cleveland. Guy is terrible, but he won't be let go until the end of the season. That's my prediction.
