That would be like firing Gary Kubiak and bringing in Jim Caldwell
Based on his tenure here and watching nearly every game during that period, the mistake was jumping the gun on his extension. Again, this was almost a Kubiak situation

Outside of GSW and the Spurs, everyone in the west is struggling. add to that they were adding another playmaker to the lineup alongside with Dwight playing every other game

Players loved him...that was part of the problem IMO; he became one of the guys not the coach. Ty Lawson came out of the "players only" meeting yesterday and pretty much said Mchale would call stuff and guys wouldn't do it.
Thibs to Houston?
Thibs is the best out there and he'd make them better defensively...not sure he has the offensive creativity to have them win a title.
