Are you talking about regular season or playoff/finals?
Because for the regular season those guys would switch roles, but during the playoffs, I saw Duncan guarding guys like Gasol, BG, Nowitzki, and Bosh.

Splitter was the one guarding Z-Bo, Griffin, etc. more times than not. Down the stretch of games (especially when the Spurs decide to downsize), I'm sure it was Duncan though.

The Lakers front office got Pau and Dwight Howard for Kobe. Its not their fault Kobe basically scared them away.

Kobe has had a more exciting career than Duncan but Duncan is better statistically, winning wise, awards and accomplishments.

Someone in the know help me out here....

Was Byron hired to appease Kobe (also did Kobe have input) as his career winded down? Is it a case of doing what Kobe wants, because he's meant so much to the franchise, player development *cough* D'Angelo Russell *cough* be damned?

Meaning...after this farce of a Lakers season is over, will they blow the whole thing up and get an entirely new coaching staff on board?

While the Spurs were bringing in the likes of:

Boris Diaw, Patty Mills, Gary Neal, Danny Green, Marco Belinelli etc

Trading away 4 1st round picks for the corpse of Steve Nash and then having a circus carousel of coaches since Phil isn't going to make a cohesive team. No assets to work with.

And so is your let's blame everything on the front office narrative. You think Kobe continuing to chuck shots, which HIS own fans were LOVING when he was shooting under 40% a few years back, leads to a cohesive unit?

I love how when Kobe's FO was actually doing ALL the great moves, none of y'all were crediting that. IT was just , "oooh, kobe's too good." Nvm that his team was actually the deepest squad thanks to his front office. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, y'all trying to go the "Spurs has had such a great front office" route. mean.gif

How convenient you left out Kawhi, LMA, and West

Free agent conversation with spurs :

'So how does it work around here? '

' Well we have a system that everyone buys into. It's allowed us to maintain a stable environment'

Free agent conversation with Lakers

'So how does it work around here'

'We do whatever Kobe wants, bro'

'Oh'

You don't think they got Pau for Kobe? Dude was on the way to the next team if something drastic wasn't done. The Lakers being able to unload some beef jerky for another's team's franchise player i'm sure was done to keep Kobe happy.

It was clear as day that Pau had grown tired of playing with Kobe. Even though Kobe considers him one of his favorite teammates, Pau was noticeably not bought in, and tired of playing in LA. Part of that was Kobe. Remember all the **** he used to get? Lakers fans and media foolishly thinking he was washed. Nah, he just didn't wanna play there.

He bolts with the quickness in Free Agency to Chicago and puts up 18 & 12 the next year in Chicago.

Kobe is a top 10 legend in the NBA, but I just can't say how he's better than Duncan career wise.

Ever since Duncan joined the Spurs, they have never missed the playoffs, he's won one more MVP and Finals MVP than Kobe, and always had constant double doubles his entire career. Kobe can always outscore Duncan, but Duncan's impact on his team is greater than Kobe had for their careers.

You got it twisted. He meant Kobe didn't scare Pau away. It was more FO's treatment with Pau.

I know. But it goes to show that the Spurs too brought talent to help their star

Kawhi, was drafted and molded. Again, talking about free agents here.

Secondly, this is the first year that the Spurs have made a big time splashy free agent acquisition in Duncan's tenure. LMA is that one. David West is significantly past his prime.

Not only that, we are only 15 games into this. Duncan has already cemented himself before this, with the cast I mentioned above. So it makes sense why I left it out. Forgot logic runs dry here.

I have Duncan above Kobe as well but what's really crazy to me is Kobe's 12'-13' season.

Literally the season before he looked like he wouldn't even make it to 17' years, let alone 20 years.

I guess I'm the only one that thinks Kobe subs himself in and out of games as his pleases. I'm not blaming Mike for anything. Especially when in 2015 with no Achilles and soap suds all over him, Kobe is still playing 31 mpg.
