Yea all they did was laugh at a fan tweet, apparently. Nothing newsworthy at all.

NBA players vs the media seems to be a thing lately

Retiring 23 league wide is probably one of the dumbest ideas that refuses to die.

There isnt any argument for it other than "Michael Jordan is my favorite player".

Nah it's dumb. MJ isn't the the undisputed greatest player to play the game, there are MULTIPLE players who you mount resonable arguemnts for. '

Russel, Wilt, Magic, Oscar, Kareem...

MJ isn't Gretsky, the gap between Gretsky and his peers is so wide, that you can't really argue that he isn't the best, MAAAYBE Bobby Orr but his career was too short

It would be an insult to other great players to retire jordans name over guys like Russel or Kareem.

I may be Inclined to think that MJ is the best but it's arguable and once its arguable you can't retire his number league wide.

So you're an idiot if you think Magic is the greatest?

You're an idiot if you think Kareem is the greatest of all time? I mean he only scored like 37 racks worth of points and nabbed 6 rings in the process.

I say the Big O, but that's my opinion. I had made a post a couple years back when NT was on ezboard, stating why I thought Oscar was the greatest, and capes came flying in for Michael.

I forget sometimes we are on a forum that essentally built on snakers that were made in the Jordans image. laugh.gif

If you retire Jordan league wide, you also gotta retire Kareem, Ruseel and WIlt as a bare minimum and you could argue Oscar and Magic and in 20 years you'll have to throw someone else in that mix.

I think these arguments tend to discount the intangible factors at play. You can certainly make basketball arguments for someone else being the greatest. But when you talk about the level of impact Not only for the league, not only socially, but for the game on a global scale...there's really no argument to be had.
Steve Nash has more MVPs than the GOAT? That's a damn shame.

Allen Iverson made a huge impact on the NBA and individuals who watched the NBA. He basically changed the game from a style perspective.

Does that make him the GOAT?

Never understood this either, you have the best nutritionists, trainers, physicians, dieticians, etc.,that most time the team pays for, in the world. Who are paid to keep MILLION dollar people in tip top shape. And to see them show up every year overweight is pure nonsense.

If only Allen Iverson was 4 inches taller and had more help.

yup. laugh.gif

So did Bird and Magic. The finals were tape delay before them.

They saved the league from near extinction, so we gunna retire those numbers as well.

No Michael Jordan is the undisputed greatest player of all time when you factor in most things.

Those other guys are great but most of their careers went unseen by the masses.

There's so much hair splitting to me that goes on between Michael/Kareem/Wilt/Lebron/Oscar/Magic/Bird etc. that to elevate one in the fashion of retiring a number of their's league wide is a bit much and totally unnecessary.

To be fair some guys just have straight up bad genes, you'll meet 43 year ols post menopausel women who carry less fat in their arms than Jabari Parki and Jarred Sullinger. Sometimes it's just bad luck. laugh.gif

Classic NT logic.

Completely ignore the ramifications of a comment, make a surface level analogy and think you just proved a point.

Good job

Seriously, I don't get what being popular or whatever has to do with if you being the greatest player. IMO, it should ONLY be what you have done on the court.

Now, if we're talking about hall of fame or whatever, than yes, popularity should factor in because that person left a revolutionary mark on the game.
