The Nets getting to the Finals was in no part thanks to Byron  you would think the fact that Kidd is already a better coach than him kinda killed that narrative.

They need to stop giving that award to inefficient chuckers who only score vs opposing benches

Agreed. The microwave 6th man is dying out man. Bench units that move the ball are much more valuable than hero ball 6th men, I.E. Lou Will, Jamal, Swaggy P etc.

On another note, my guy Will Barton is balling out in the 6th man role. 14/5/2 on 50/40/90. Hope he can keep it up. Too bad 6th man doesn't go to teams with losing records.

If Iggy keeps playing at his current pace, he deserves it.

@BenGolliver
Warriors coach Steve Kerr: 82-15 in first 97 games
Lakers coach Byron Scott: 81-230 in last 311 games

one guy took over the best roster in the league & the other took over an aging Kobe Bryant.

they weren't the best roster in the league yet though. exact same guys, they were just aight with mark jackson. Could byron coach the warriors to a chip? doubt it. he's like mr. magoo.

Kidd getting Scott fired on the heels of two finals appearances :pimp:

Those Nets teams were the trash the bubbled to the top of a putrid Eastern Conference. The best team in the East in 2003 won 50 games. FIFTY! And the 49-win Nets SWEPT them (Pistons) to get to the Finals lol. No coach could have saved them from the destruction unleashed on them by the Lakers and Spurs those years.

When Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside passed to a cutting Luol Deng for a layup against the New York Knicks on Monday, he recorded his fourth assist of the season and 10th of his career. If you're thinking that he should have more than that by accident, you're probably right. Whiteside, though, has an explanation, via the Palm Beach Post's Jason Lieser:

How about that assist you had to Luol Deng?
“Yeah, yeah. I told the guys, ‘I'm trying to pass it to you, it's just I can't get a lot of assists because a lot of the times I'm the one that's dunking.' I'm the one getting assisted to. But I'm a willing passer.”

You have four assists now. Congratulations.
“Oh man, I'm breaking records all the time. I'm trying, man.”

I love that he has a sense of humor about this, even if it's a little crazy that he's gone without an assist in 10 of the 13 games he's played this year. That usually won't happen to a "willing passer."

He does have a point, too: No one has more than Whiteside's 33 dunks this season. When he gets the ball around the basket, he should not be trying to pass it. He should be trying to tear the rim down.

With the impact Whiteside is making, it's hard to argue he's in the wrong role. He rarely passes the ball except after grabbing rebounds, and in the halfcourt he functions mostly as a screen setter, offensive rebounder and finisher. No one would say that the Heat should run their offense through him, but, if he wants more touches, it wouldn't hurt for him to show that he's a willing passer rather than just saying it.

Travelling aside, isn't also illegal to take the ball above shoulder length when dribbling?

No.

I don't when or how this became a common misconception.

Not much hypes me up in the NBA these days, much less stats

I know a stat that hypes a lot of you guys up though

How many 50 win teams has he actually played in playoffs though?

Compared to the others...

You're right, in fairness to Lebron, we should definitely also bring up their winning percentages against 50 win teams whenever this graphic gets posted.

The top three guys are winning at or near an elite percentage against 50 win teams. Lebron is only winning 53% of those match ups.
