I know Kobe has had way more injuries than dirk, but they're the same age, and dirk is shooting over 50% from the field. Just goes to show you how great dirk has been in his career
You put Dirk through the same injuries as Bryant and I doubt you'll get close to 50%

But yeah Dirk is amazing. Only way to put it

Dirk is quietly proving that he's a greater player than people give him credit for. He's already ahead of Barkley and Malone, and at this point, I'd have to put him ahead of KG. KG has been mailing it in for a few years now, while Dirk keeps chugging along with his ridiculous shooting and dragging that team to playoff appearances. But NT doesn't want to hear any of that nonsense.

Dirk is the most underrated/under appreciated player on NT. One of the greatest players I've ever watched. :pimp:

Dirk is 7 feet tall with an unblockable shot. As long as he can get up and down the court he will be effective.

Honestly when he's 50 years old, you could keep him on the roster, and put him in the game coming out of timeouts.

All valid points but the reason why I can't put him in my all time top ten is this

How you win 67 games, the MVP, and allowed that to happen. He's great no doubt but needs help equal or greater than his talent to win 'chips.

Sounds like any other player that has won an NBA championship.

wut?

Your diminishing him because Avery Johnson got out coached?

What was the help" equal or greater than his talent "the year he won a ring, Jason Terry?

 nah. Lebron was the equalizer. If Lebron averaged just his regular season numbers Dirk wouldn't have a ring.

Maybe the equal talent line was little inaccurate but compared to other greats he is second tier great to me (if that makes any sense).

it doesn't make sense.

Teams win chips, coaching matters, Dallas came up with a zone defense that Lebron couldn't beat+Spo is a poor offensive coach= lebron doesn't perform well.

You don't diminish a great player because their coaching staff came up with a great gameplan.

this is the case with every championship team in the history of basketball.

Doesn't make Jet a comparable talent to Dirk.

Jet pretty much carried them in the closeout game. There were a bunch of games where guys other than dirk stepped up and even outplayed him. Dirk was the best player but still.

Very true. But on some of his teams you could argue that he wasn't the best player on that team that year..

uhhhhm....what year was Dirk not the best player on the Mavs?

Not saying that he wasn't either of those years, just saying it is arguable.

When Nash, when Monta was playing, Finley, and Josh Howard was on the team there would be people saying Dirk isn't the best at times.

So? Thats the case for every championship run.

Kobe went for 6/24 or what ever in a close out game.

Really Jet is one of the worst 2nd options in recent history.

Sometimes I feel like I'm living in a different universe. Finley wasn't better than Dirk after his 3rd year..

Josh Howard and Monta ******* Ellis? What?

I want to go back in time and find the people that were arguing that and slap them in the face. It's not arguable it's crazy.
