The Pacers selected Reggie Miller with the 11th overall pick in the 1987 NBA Draft.

Miller played his entire 18-year career for Indiana, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012.

The Warriors are 22-0 and bring a 26-game win streak into Indiana tonight.

Miller doesn't believe Golden State will make it 27 straight.

"It (the streak) does end tonight," Miller declared on The Dan Patrick Show. "I know people listening or watching are going to say, 'Well of course he's gonna say the Pacers.' I look at the matchups and on this show, I've told you that this league is a copycat league. And the Warriors are the best small-ball team in the league ... Frank Vogel came into this year saying, 'We're gonna do the same thing. We're gonna put Paul George at the four.'

"And other than Steph Curry, Paul George has been the best player, and I think when they go small, and they've got C.J. Miles -- nobobdy is even talking about C.J. Miles and what he has done for the Pacers this year -- with George Hill, Monta Ellis, Miles, George at four, and Ian Mahinmi -- that is a lineup that can compete, certainly at home ... I really do believe that's why the Pacers are going to win tonight."

Curry leads the league in scoring at 32.4 points per game, while George is third at 27.6.

Curry is third in 3-point percentage (47.2). George is eighth (45.4).

Curry is first in 3-pointers made (116). George is third (64).

When it comes to the supporting casts: Miles is averaging 15.6 points while shooting 43.5 percent from deep. Klay Thompson is averaging 17.2 points while making 42 percent of his treys.

Curry's former teammate, Monta Ellis, is registering 11.7 points and 4.8 assists per contest, to go along with a 41.8 shooting percentage.

George Hill, who will probably be tasked with trying to defend Curry, is averaging 12.8 points, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals per night.

The Warriors lead the league in 3-pointers attempted per game (30.9).

Golden State is tops in 3-point percentage (43.7), while Indiana is second (40.1).

The Warriors are fifth in defensive rating (97.6). The Pacers are sixth (98.1)

Golden State is 22-0. Indiana is 12-7.

"I'm not discrediting what Golden State is doing," Miller added. "These dudes are playing out of their minds ... they're playing lights out.

"... But the buck stops in Indiana."

Reggie's analysis isn't actually that terrible when you don't have to hear it in his corn ball voice.

@EricPincus: I spoke to someone with a non-LA NBA franchise who said he expects Ryan Anderson to be a max player this summer, just based on market

NY Knicks | NY Jets | NY Yankees

"When I die I want the Knicks/Jets to carry my casket so they can let me down one last time"

Agreed. The whole GSW thing is disgusting.

Pretty sure the refs will call a foul for guarding curry.

Well Hibbert & Lance are still in the league. Bender washed out because he couldn't stay healthy.

Ain't no time consuming high dollar budget doc needed for that.

How Kobe Bryant once tried to ruin Thunder’s chemistry
2 Comments 
By Dan FeldmanDec 8, 2015, 3:19 PM EST

The best part about Kobe Bryant retiring is we’re treated to all kinds of great stories about the Lakers star.

Take this one from the 2012 Olympics, when Kobe, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook played for Team USA. The Thunder had just reached the NBA Finals, and Durant had just won his third straight scoring title. So, Kobe – still fancying the Lakers a contender – tried to poke at the underlying on-court tension between the Oklahoma City stars.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports on Kobe:

“He spent the summer imploring Westbrook that he couldn’t let Durant win another NBA scoring title, trying to send him back to Oklahoma City with gunning on his mind.”

Ha! Classic Kobe.

Unfortunately for him, Westbrook and Durant share too close a bond for that to work. Durant lost the scoring title to Carmelo Anthony in 2012-13, but Westbrook actually shot less than year prior.

Still, you have to salute Kobe’s effort to find an edge.

at this point, or was it last season, no one really cares about what kobe has to say. really. writers jusy try so hard to squeeze every last bit out of this by taking quotes out of context and exagerrating things.

guys and peeps cant wait to move on.

Very brave of you to say, hot route. Very brave indeed.

These folks just need to shut up about GSW. It just adds more fuel to the fire.

Oh well, barring injury, y'all will learn after the 3rd one laugh.gif. Maybe not.

Looking at starting players is so lazy. That's not what makes gsw so deadly. They have Steph plus an entire team full of guys that can go off on any given night. Extremely well constructed team

Hibbert would still be a force if he was matched up against Lebron and Tyson Chandler like he always used to be

The Warriors keep the streak alive and the Trailblazers get the upset win.

They call him the young wolf. They say he rides into battle on the back of giant direwolf. They say he can turn into a wolf himself when he wants. They say he can't be killed.

That's a rip off.

Unless, of course, you plan on giving me 600 back.

Thread Starter

I know it's been discussed on and off in the past couple years, usually in regards to the playoff threads and series threads.. but would people be interested in keeping this thread for regular NBA discussion.. but creating a separate daily game thread?

I know this thread moves very quickly during gamenights and creating a separate thread each day for that days games might be a solution. It wouldn't be much extra work, just before the games start up, someone creates a thread for that nights in-game discussion... then the season thread can still be used if people want to discuss other things that would otherwise be lost in the shuffle once the games started.

It could also help people who want to throw out the Clipper, Cavs, Bron, hate and get all of that out of their system, before coming back into the regular thread :lol I also know for myself if I miss a day or night of the NBA thread, when I come back I see 500 new replies, and I go through them and most of it's game discussion.. so sometimes you miss an interesting article, link, discussion, etc.

Just an idea, I know it's been thrown out there before.

I don't like the Separate NBA game thread idea.

Keep it as is. It's fine the way it is now.
