I was expecting to agree with KD but he came off like a hurt girlfriend

"Leave Kobe alone!"

Nothing wrong with talking about how bad he's playing this year, not that it would make a difference on this trash heap of a team. But people saying that he is ruining his legacy are idiots.

10 years from now no one will care about this season, only the championships, as we do with all the greats

when has Tim EVER been that guy in the NBA? Hell, when the Spurs were rolling, nobody wanted to watch them play. Stern didn't even want to put them on tv. I'm not saying he's not an all-time basketball player, but he was never a blinding light. Dude gave you great numbers and steady consistency, but besides that one huge fling shot he had that one game, he wasnt, by my observation, on anyones radar as far as being the best, besides being the best PF of all time. When was Tim the best player in the NBA? What year? I need dates b.

So because Kobe was more popular and flashy than Tim Duncan, Timmy never was the "guy" or "reached that mountain top" that Kobe did and looked down on the rest of the NBA as you put it? Here are some absolute facts for you about Tim Duncam from 99-05.

Tim Duncan has 3 Finals MVP's.

Tim Dumcan is a 2X back to back league MVP. 2002-2003.

One of his finals MVP's came in the same year that he was also League MVP.

Again, idk how you can be a back to back MVP and 3X finals MVP in that time span and NOT be considered arguably the best player in the NBA.

That's on you if you didn't consider him that. But he definitely was.

bro, it's deeper than stats.

Show me a quote where his peers said he's the best player on the planet. Plenty of players at different times have said it about Kobe.

Yeah but part of being regarded as the best player in the NBA, is being popular...Especially to the casual fan. Whether or not you agree with Kobe always being better or whatever is completely different than who was that dude...It's unquestionably Kobe. Just like for kids now, it's Bron. That's part of the mountain top

These probably the same players that voted James Harden the MVP last year and watched too many ESPN highlights growing up.

Dirk Nowitzki on Kobe Bryant retiring: “It’s disappointing. A lot of these warriors that were drafted in the ‘90s are slowly fading away. And it’s obviously toward the end for us all. It’s a little sad. But I’m happy for him that he made that decision for himself. It could lift a little weight off his shoulder. To me, he’s probably the greatest player I’ve faced. And I’ve faced some great players with Tim Duncan and Shaq and all these guys. But he was something else, just scoring-wise, the shot-making ability was incredible. I was always a big fan. But it’s disappointing that we’re all getting old."

Neither one of those deals with the other in the slightest. What a terrible way to attempt to link any of that

So Peers considering you the best player on the planet >>>> actual being the best player on the planet. Got you.

Steph Curry's peers just said James Harden was the MVP a few months ago.

I've said this before but there isn't a single year where Kobe was the undisputed bes tplayer in the NBA, it was always an argument.

So pretend like it wasn't just because his retiring is pretty silly.

Excactly!!

But apparently, that one dude thinks it doesn't deal with the other in the slightest. :rolleyes

To be fair most people who think this way thought this way long before he was retiring.

i feel like he def stole at least a couple 1st team all nba from dwade

This is a classic case of random people on the internet thinking they know more than people who have spent years on the same basketball court as the man

It‘s obviously Kobe was popular and marketable. That‘s a given. They call it charisma. It‘s an intangible force that can often over shadow things. As someone has said, the Kobe fans and Laker fans can some times cross over.

Its obvious and with out a doubt that Kobe has cemented himself like no other, but the thing most people forget is that he had guys around him. He had Phil, Shaq, Pau, Artest, Lamar, Fisher, Horry, etc.

What bugs people is when Kobe fans disregard this, trying to claim his heorics and stats were just his own doing!! It is not his own doing. The Kobe pics with 5 trophies is propaganda for people who don‘t know basketball.

To this day, it is with out a doubt that Kobe was Robin for the first 3 rings.

Validation by peers and predecessors is another thing in itself. TD, Nowitzki, and MJ validation would hold MORE substance than WB, KD, and LBJ.

@basketballtalk: Report: Jahlil Okafor tried using fake I.D. last month. https://t.co/XjuSVaPFHI
What an idiot

This doesn't work when everyone knows who you are and can literally just google your age
