It'd be different watching a healthy Kobe being a human victory cigar.

I don't know if he'd sign up for that when the time comes.
Bet you he'd get playing time early and then sit the rest of the game

The Brazil experience IMO is enough for the guy to go out there

Been saying no matter how Paul George played this season he was getting in regardless. After the injury him and the Pacers organization single handedly could have deaded NBA players from going to the Olympics if they would have came out with negativity. But they kept it positive and just off that alone he HAS to be there.

Kobe is in at the very least because it would be Nike (team outfitter) last chance to make money of him on a competitive stage. I don't think alot of people realize that. At this point the only question is, will he come off the bench or be the only player who starts every game?

I bought up the Nike angle weeks ago and some giy actually questioned "how much money they would actually make with Kobe on the team versus someone like Butler or Hayward." As if those dudes have signature lines that Nike profits from.

I swear I can't make this **** up.

I guess it depends on who you plan on leaving off the team if you add Kobe. If all of the top guys plan on playing, its going to be difficult seeing Kobe get in.

Paul George (I'm sure he's guaranteed a spot)
Demarcus Cousins
Stephen Curry
Klay Thompson
Anthony Davis
Kevin Durant
James Harden
Andre Drummond
Carmelo Anthony
Chris Paul
Lebron James
Russell Westbrook

That's 12 guys right there. Then, you're still leaving out the possibility of the MVP from the previous summer in Kyrie Irving, plus guys like Jimmy Butler, Kawhi Leonard, Bradley Beal, Draymond Green, etc. Best thing to happen for Kobe is that one or two of the top 12 guys pull out.

Dang, you really think Blake isn't even in contention?

Let me fix that for ya...

Paul George
Blake Griffin
Stephen Curry
Klay Thompson
Anthony Davis
Kevin Durant
Kawhi Leonard
Tim Duncan
Jimmy Butler
Kobe Bryant
Lebron James
Russell Westbrook

if timmy says he wants to play for USA, you dont deny him. same with kobe. you extend an invitation to them. i'd give the next forward spot to draymond (no homer)

Blake had a spot in London before he got hurt in practice iirc

Tim Duncan is not in the player pool

The Kobe hate is laughable. Dudes can't stand him on the team lmao

I don't even like Kobe, but I want him on the Olympic team. Observing all his "socializing" in London last time around was pretty amusing. Should be even better in Brazil.

You know Lebron is gonna make sure Love and Kyrie (World Games MVP) are there if healthy. Gonna be alot of dudes with those Dame Lillard feelings and social media posts....

I don't think Lebby has that power when it comes to this regime but it's not as if those guys would be bad choices anyway

It's hilarious that people are really going to try to justify their distaste for Kobe by pretending to give a **** about whatever player would occupy what is basically the 12th man role on the team.

You're going to really sit up here and act like it's such a huge travesty if Kobe "steals" a roster part from someone who wouldn't make or break the chance at gold and would likely be young enough to play in another Olympic tourney anyway.
Naw that's not what I'm saying and not what Kobe is saying. Kobe is talking about playing a big part on the team and contributing. The interview asked him about the "12th" man role and Kobe said he can and wants to play a big role on the USA team.

I don't care about him riding the pine, but I think it's messed up that he Wants to play but not a bench spot and would still want to take minutes from a superstar while declining....

Watch the Allstar game this year and you will see where I'm coming from.

Kobe hate and Team Usa are kind of diffferent. As someone has said, don‘t let Kobe disgrace the country. If he does join, we‘ll have a trillion of youtube vids of Kyrie Shamgodding crossing Kobe up and leaving him doing piurorettes DWTS type moves. That‘s proally why Kobe don‘t wanna play no more.

Kobe had a good run, he doesn‘t need to grow out a goatee and jack 3s on the international stage. Plus lotta guys lowkey hate him on team usa. Don‘t let the PR propaganda politically correct responses in the twitter world confuse you.

Looking at that player pool, I wonder how some of these dudes feel going to the camp knowing they have no shot of making the team? After being the best at every baketball stop in their life until this point. Some may just say the experience was fun. But the ones that are the franchise player on their respective teams have to take it some type of way.

Well if they're in camp then you already know their attitude. They're doing it possibly for 2020 to show good faith and to also build camaraderie

Plus there could be injuries and other circumstances that pop up. Participating in the camp will keep their chances alive
