It seems like the Mavs are always trying to get that shiny new toy and it fails time and time again. They always sign the player after they've had their great years or had a great year. When they first acquired Tyson Chandler, it was via trade and not through signing :lol:

. Luckily, they dodged the bullet with DeAndre because they already messed up with Parsons and Matthews.

This goes all the way back to the Brian Cardinal and Erick Dampier days :lol:

Brian Cardinal went from not playing at all to averaging 9ppg and 4rpg on 47/44/88 and getting a SIX YEAR DEAL BY JERRY WEST AND THE GRIZZLIES. :x

Grizzlies president Jerry West, who has a reputation for spotting undervalued talent, called Cardinal "an excellent all-around player."

"He will provide additional shooting in an area that we felt needed help. In addition, he has a very high basketball IQ that we obviously covet in all our players," West said.

Til this day, I believe Jerry West trolled the hell out of the Grizzlies. There is no way he helped the Lakers / Warriors out like he did and made the Grizz sign Brian Cardinal to a long-term deal, draft Thabeet and do all kinds of stupid ****.

Ah, yes. How could I forget about Tim Thomas considering it was the Clippers who signed him after that contract year. I wouldn't say he was bad for the Clippers, but nothing like the player he was during that Suns playoff run. He also had the back luck of having to be the team's starting SF after Brand went down due to injury. That's not the role he should have been playing.
