Mann I caught that Mark Jackson comment during the game and I knew the media was gonna blow it up smh. It really wasn't that serious for Bogut to say all that. What a beef
post #35465 of 93193
bogut and barnes were the two that were glad jackson was gone
mark couldve just joked and said, "kids dont try this at home" etc but had to go with steph ruining the game and went into it like he was serious laugh.gif
post #35466 of 93193

Bogut never gives any damns. Why would that change when his teammate and MVP are getting criticized on Xmas day on National TV

Bogut was in the right for sticking up for Curry. Kind of wish he went in harder on Jackson :lol

I see yall's point. I guess he could've gone with a better choice of wording. He was just making a statement - Curry excels at a rarely successful style of play, and everyone is trying to emulate that. if anything he was coming at everyone else in the world
post #35468 of 93193

Jackson just ignoring everything else that Curry does

If anything Jordan and Kobe were bad for the game too then for their ball hogging, black hole and terrible shot selection ways. Dudes would consistently take on triple teams. Triple pump fake fadeaways

As soon as I heard what Mark Jackson said I knew the thread would turn it into some sort of shot at Curry laugh.gif

It sounded more like a compliment to me. Curry is one of a kind. Nobody else in the league can get away with pull up 3's on 3v1 fastbreaks or 35 ft threes with 15 seconds left on the shot clock. Kids shouldn't be trying to do that because nobody else has ever been able to do that laugh.gif
post #35470 of 93193

I didn't take it as a shot towards Curry, more so saying unnecessary things while ignoring other aspects of Curry's game

Like I said, Kobe and Jordan did things that consistently wasn't "good basketball", there's no reason to really mention that though without sounding somewhat bitter or ignorant

You just defined one of them in their early years (not coincidentally, before his championships), and one of them in their 'prime'.

Wasn't the very next comment about how Steph does much more than just shoot threes? I remember he and JVG were discussing his ball handling, screen setting, cutting as things thenkids should try to emulate instead of just the threes. I just feel like every time he says something the thread turns it into him being salty laugh.gif

Either way, if we're just speaking of Bryant my point still stands

Did Jackson say that after? If he did then my mistake. Either way, I have don't have any ill will towards Jackson. I do think that he's making sweeping generalizations as if he watches every youth basketball game across the country and can confirm that the kids don't emulate the other things too

Also, on this Jackson thing, the increased emphasis on 3 point shooting started way before Curry's rise to prominence. It's probably like 10 years ago now that I started to notice people shooting way more 3s in pick-up games. Maybe Steph is causing more people to now shoot pull-up 3s on fast breaks and **** like that, but he's not the reason kids, etc. are disproportionately focusing on 3 point shooting. That started before him

jackson's point would have been better delivered using someone like Kobe, who every game I see is throwing up an air ball or two
post #35478 of 93193
And regarding Jackson's words, by his logic, every superstar in every sport is bad for the game.

Not everyone can hustle like Pete Rose, so he's bad for the game.

Not everyone has Kidd's vision; bad.

Not everyone can be both as fast and strong as Bron, so he's bad.

Not everyone can climb and swing like Trout, so he's actually hurting baseball.

Nah JVG had to make that point. They were all pretty shocked because he wasn't wording it like "Kids are copying a guy who's a once in a lifetime shooter." He was saying "Steph Curry is ruining the game." Totally different.

Don't think Mark had any ill feelings with that comment.  People and the media would rather see something like this take place though.

I think everyone knows by now that Curry is one of a kind.  He's certainly the new lead for the NBA because of his image and on court performance.  Something LBJ / HARDEN / KD / WB and various great players don't have either.

And with Bogut being salty?  Who cares about him.  He's on Cloud 9 and has no friends as evident of his past.  He finally finds some solace and closure w/ GS as a scrub filler.

I really think dudes switched with a quickness on him once he announced this is his final year. People used to come IN DROVES to say what you just said, but now if anyone says it, they get the stinkeye. "You nuts? Kobe a beast."

Completely agree with steph's response, short and concise:

I think we need a new poll.

F word GSW! Straight up!

"I apologize, turns out it was not the Thunder's year.  I wish they hadn't played the games"

Essentially it boils down to do what works for you..

Kobe is 6'6' and was athletic as hell.. AI was an athletic freak, although not that big or tall

Kids trying to emulate them, would be worse off becaus there is very very few who have the other stuff to go with their games

Hell kids trying emulate white chocolate and them and1 dudes was horrible for the game too
