I'm not a believer in Chicago. Think Houston is too far down to make a run at a title, even with a trade. they are 8th. I don't think a team has won a championship ever after being in 8th after like 32 games or so. And I think OKC belongs in the 2nd tier as well.

100% they need a good backup pg & I don't think Dunleavy will be effective when he does come back so hes not being counted on but if cle & okc are in that 1st tier w/ no trade so is chi... no question

Bulls are like 23rd in the league in offensive rating man. Being that bad on offense isn't a recipe for success and I could easily see them upset in the first round, partly due to the amount of parity in the East right now. PG play is a huge question mark.

yeah i dont think they are contenders yet. i just dont think cleveland is that far ahead of the bulls in the east either.

I guess SA and GS are in a class by themselves.

Warriors
Spurs

Thunder
Cavs

Everybody else

With the league wide parity so far, hopefully some teams decide to go all-in and trades go down.

See, I do think the Cavs right now are that far ahead of everyone else in the east. Bulls offense just too anemic to beat the Cavs in a 7 game series, and that's if they were to actually get to them in a conference final. Any one of those teams below Chicago to me (minus boston) I think could give Chicago more than what they bargained for. I like Miami more than Chicago too, even though they struggle with offense as well.

Don't think it's that clear cut in the west. SA and GS are obviously the top two, but GS is not as good as they were last year despite their record, (Slippage on defense. Injuries to Ezeli, Barnes, Curry, etc. Their record has more to do with the West not being as good than their dominance. Still MORE THAN GOOD ENOUGH to win it all however and they should, barring injury) and while SAS is doing well and rolling, they do have some issues with the Thunder and the Clippers, both of whom have been rolling as of late. In particular, the Clippers now are just outside of the top 10 in defense and since mid november, they've been a top 5 defense as well)

I believe I left OKC out, but I still don't put them on the same level as the other two teams even though they are above the rest in the West. So, not only do the Grizz need to change things, but so do the other teams (HOU, LAC).

The Warriors are giving up practically the same amount of points (DefRtg), just their league standing is down compared to last year (fourth this season vs first last season).

im not into advanced stats (shout out to @three00zeex) but the eye test tells me lebron has lost a step. is this not widely acknowledged? love and kyrie as good as they are on offense, are terrible defensively. to me the cavs look beatable, its just that no one else in the east has a superstar that can get past them

it's hard for me to make a statement like the warriors aren't as good as last year. i think just about everybody would agree that the west isn't as tough but just watching the warriors play this year shows that most of the times it looks like they are just coasting and know they just need to put together 2.5 good quarters to win a game. they aren't trying as hard as last year to win the games, hopefully this doesn't come back to hunt us. i think it's a little off to say a team that is 31-2 aren't clear cut favorites.

I'm not betting against Lebron in the eastern conference anymore.

Can't see any team in the East knocking Cleveland off in a 7 game series

Agree 100%. Its funny that the East is better overall, but the ultimate result for the conference is still going to be the same. As long as Lebbywinks is healthy, they're going to the Finals.

I believe he can be an all star some day. Don't think all NBA. He's 23 so there's a bit of a cap there I suppose

Really don't see the Clippers making a significant move during the season. I think Glenn will roll the dice that he can get the most out of the roster he put together in the offseason. And honestly, unless a team wants to give us a very good two way SF without us giving up any of our core players, I don't think a midseason trade will put us any closer to really contending. It will just result in brining in different supplementary players that Doc will have to figure out how to use, but in less time. That'll put us even further behind GSW and SA, IMO.

Basically, unless the Pacers want to give us PG for like, Josh Smith, Wes Johnson and CJ Wilcox, I'm ok with the Clippers standing pat.
