We need to take this whole FT convo and just put it on pause.

It wasn't due for re-discussion until atleast ASB.

See man,

Y'all talking about DJ's mental fortitude from how he looks on Television. As if y'all are qualified to assess what goes through someone's mind, from television.

As if y'all have the credentials to assess someone's mental stability / instability when he's performing...from television.

Y'all got it.

not sure whether this is directed at me but most people would agree that basketball is mental and physical. if DJ worked as hard and smart on his ft shooting as you claimed then another reason might be mental, right? not sure why you think it's a reach

you're in your feelz capin for DJ bro :lol

With your logic, NTers shouldnt be here on a forum talking like they have the credentials to assess professional basketball from watching TV from home?

We all watching from home, famb.

If Enes Kanter, Dirk, Porzingis, Roy Hibbert clumsy ***, and other 7 footers can hit FTs at a respectable rate, DJ can hit 60% at least.

Even Shaq shot 62% one year, no excuses, stop the caping

People are throwing out fixes for DJ's FT shooting like they're new ideas. laugh.gif The Clippers have paid a bunch of different "shot doctors" a lot of money to trying and get his FT shooting better. I'm willing to bet that they have recommended and/or had him do pretty much everything that has been mentioned on this board today. And yet he's still a 40% FT shooter (although I think he might be over 50% for his last 10 games or something like that). If a bunch of experts over like 8 years time haven't been able to help him, it kind of makes me think there is no magic solution and he's just never going to be a good free throw shooter.

bro...i never said he lacked mental fortitude or nothing like that. I have no clue what goes on in his mind. I never claimed to. I even said, his shot doesnt look that bad. I just think he doesnt 'get it', in reference to his shot mechanics.

Not directed at you,

more so at moneyliscious

I'm not even saying that it could or couldn't be mental. But I won't sit here and claim that it's mental because It looks like that way from TV.

What if he physically can't be a better free throw shooter? Just like he could get better, it's a possibility that he just can't get much better. I don't know, I don't have the answers (no sway) but i'm not going to just automatically say that he would be a better free throw shooter if he worked harder or smarter. That's all

Nope.

He should just hire another shot doctor, and work smarter.

Because Roy Hibbert became a good free throw shooter, so DJ should be able to do the same.

Some players are just that bad at certain areas though. It is what it is, you can't expect them ALL to excel or even be average.

Everyone has a different ceiling on certain abilities.

i'm not quite sure why you & shoe think we want him to be a good free throw shooter. nobody is really expecting that. we just don't to see him shooting 40% sick.gif and i can't believe is acceptable by you two. i mean it's logical to think that a professional team is throwing the right amount of money out to fix the situation but i'm not quite sure believe in that. or else you have more nba teams with similar health specialists like the Suns.

They all have access to the same resources, why can't DJ at least improve somewhat instead of hovering at the 40% range.

Anyway, this just proves DJ is unreliable and can't be relied on when the game is on the line. Have fun losing in the playoffs with him bricking and sitting on the bench after he bricks multiple FTs.

Because there are physical limitations to be had on certain skills. Free throw shooting is included in this.

No one is expecting a perfect line fam
Just at least a 10% improvement.

Iggy shot 59% last year, and this year is currently at 72%. I think DJ can make that improvement if he actually finds the right routine instead of doing the same ol ish.
Until then, DJ gonna be trash at the FT line. Enjoy those bricks while you can.

I never said it was acceptable. Its a major problem. Its one of the reasons I was going to be ok with him leaving the Clippers as a FA last Summer. I'm just responding to the idea that there must be something he can do to make himself better than a 40% shooter. I'm not sure that's the case since he does put in the effort and has tried tons of techniques and none of it has worked. So, at this point, I don't really expect him to improve much, if at all.

And for the record, DJ's free throw shooting - even if it remains terrible -- isn't going to be the reason they advance or don't advance in the playoffs. Just like it wasn't last year or the year before that.

Shiittt, you think I want to accept it?  :rollin

I don't accept it, but it's a reality that i'm trying to get across. Not everyone can be good, or even decent at a skill such as free throw shooting.

If world class shooting coaches can't help, then it can't be as easy as you guys are making it out to be, right? I mean, this is a logical presumption to make, is it not Fris? Come on bro
