I'd put money on the thunder to win the chip. And just keep betting against them. If they do win it all. +1200 right now. When they do run into the Warriors i would bet big on the Warriors so you could come out with a profit.

I would 100% NOT recommend doing this. Here is why (and I am assuming the Thunder would be the 3 seed, Warriors the 1, and I will estimate the odds):

Say you bet $100 on the Thunder at +1200. Your total possible winnings would be $1200. So the Thunder play, lets say the Rockets in the first round and would be big favorites (lets guess -300). You bet $300 against the Thunder (which would only cover your original $100 bet), which loses. Now your total possible winnings would be $1200 but you are down $300.

Then they face the Spurs in round 2. The Spurs would be favored, but not by a ton. Lets just say they are -200 to beat the Thunder. So this bet would need to be at least enough to cover the $300 you are down, plus a little more so you could actually win something. So you bet $700 on the Spurs to win. The Thunder win the series, and you are now down $1000 with a potential to win $1200.

Then the Thunder play the Warriors in the WCF. I would guess that the Warriors would be at the very least would be -300. So now, you are down $1000, with the potential to win only $200 more than you are down. You have a $1000 makeup, and if you want to "profit" You would have to bet $30,000 on the Warriors at -300 just to break even with the $1000 you are down.

If the Thunder win, you are now down $31,000. NOW you still have to have the Thunder win the Finals for you to even cash your original bet that yields only $1200.

Sorry bro, but you clearly did not think through your post, as it is one of the dumbest betting strategies I have ever heard. I hope the guy didnt listen to you, as it would be a sure fire way of flushing a large sum of money down the toilet.
