I'm not even knocking wiggins at all, but let history be your guide.

There's very little doubt that wiggins will be a good / very good player. He kind of already is good now.

But you hardly ever see someone with an assist percentage as low as his end up as a "superstar" or anything like that. Someone who has the ball as much as he does should be able to playmake better than he has done thus far through his young career.

Is he young? Yes. But there's nothing to suggest that's going to all of a sudden make a huge jump as far as playmaking for others and shooting the 3 ball at a semi efficent clip. These things are independent of youth so "how we judge 19-20 year olds" really is irrelevant for the sake of this discussion with wiggins. He may become marginally better at these things, and become a rudy gay or a demar type player, and that's fine.

Function of media hype + team situation.

He's playing pretty much the same way he did last season except with an uptick in 3's.

The pelicans have been in the doldrums of the NBA this season thus, the lack of mention for AD this year. He's been pretty good.

I think kat and ad are starting to get put in the same boat. People see the numbers they put up at a young age and start fantasizing about them growing exponentially for the next 5-10 years when the reality might be that they started off their careers already being close to their ceiling. There's going to be some polish that comes with experience but I wouldn't expect any drastic improvement. Okafor is similar on offense in that he may add a more consistent jumper or whatever but he's already so advanced that there's not much room to grow.

@CP1708 be honest bro how many Wolves games have you caught this year and last :lol

I've watched damb near all of them.. I am a big Wiggins fan, I just don't see him being much more than a good scorer.. that's not even a knock on him. He's not going to magically become someone who can create for others.. he has the ball in his hands A LOT no reason he can't at least get 3 a game. Don't get me started with his rebounding.

He's a kill only player, ain't eem mad. I just don't see a superstar. But that's just my opinion.

how long before KAT is better than we thought AD was? 2 years max. KAT is was AD was supposed to be. Now son just looking like Sam Eagle

I see him starting to decline next year. Borderline starting material. Leveled off after hitting Peak in December of his rookie year.

What about being top 3 in his second season like AD? is AD top 3 all-time
By now?

My bad, you thought he was the best player in the nba and would be even better this year.

I have zero doubt he will be even better next year with Gentry.

Has he regressed? We can make comments like this but can't think a player has regressed?

VC averaged 3-4 assists right out of the gate. Prime VC was at 5 a game for awhile. He was a really good and willing passer.

Melos also been at 3+ since making the leap. He's also clearly a guy that sees the floor very well.

Just saying wing guards normally see the game differently than most. Not always the most willing passers but they have the ability. Wiggins needs to develop that part of his game obviously. He's had nearly no playmaking responsibility the last 2.5 years. To be fair to him, he hasn't had a good coach in the NBA and Kansas is a strange place for NBA prospects.

It really is scary. KAT has a better jump shot, passing and feel for the game as a rookie than AD, plus he's 2 inches taller and about 10-15 lbs. heavier.

Anthony Davis isn't where everyone thought he'd be. He is done. Will not improve much more.
Kat already is showing more polish as an individual scorer than AD did at this age and is shooting 38% from 3. These are huge differences to me that suggest KAT really has up next and now lowkey.

ive maybe watched 10 wolves game this year but ive rostered wiggins alot in fantasy and he is scoring dependant. he gets nothing else, no other stats. its well know that all he is score at the moment.

I think even more than his game, I love KATs attitude. Little bro just gets it. His famiyl really instilled values of hard work and humility in him. I dig that. Barring injury, he'll be great forever. Quiet savage like TD

To put some perspective on wiggins,

Chris Paul has the ball a ton for the Clips. That's obvious.

Wiggins has a higher usage rate than Chris Paul. That's crazy.

By no means is this a way to compare those two players, but when you have the ball that much, you should be able to account for more than 10% of your team's assist. Yes he's young, but to expect a huge or dramatic jump in this area is naive. Then you factor in the fact that he isn't as good of a defender as advertised, and you have some question marks on his potential.

I know there's a lot to it but when these kids start having great playoff performances, I'll crown them.

Until then, they are kids with great potential and are fun to watch

I can agree with this.

but, what about just getting to the playoffs? Are we putting the responsibility on even making it to the playoffs on them? Because great playoffs can take garbage to the playoffs no matter what? a la LBJ? Or are we saying these kids are hella good, but they need more haaaalp? a la LBJ?

I think people are too used to the blatant disrespect and calling players trash, garbage, or overrated, so when there's actual logic and evidence behind opinions.. it's swept all together. It's not ridiculous to criticize a young player, just because they're 20 and have potential doesn't mean they're free from criticism.. but it's important to remember that they are young, of course.

Basically what happens is people want to avoid criticizing a young player or a young team because "They're young, they'll improve, they have potential" but those little issues or faults might not get fixed and 5 years from now you wonder "Why didn't they pan out?" and it's those little issues you might have seen in year 1 or 2. On the flipside, of course, people look at 40 games from a rookie and make extravagant claims that are proven wrong when they naturally improve and get better.

...

As for Wiggins, it's fair to say we haven't seen a major jump and improvement this year. That's not to say we won't see it, but other than a scoring bump, his play this year hasn't jumped out to you as a future superstar to me. We need to see that defensive potential more and he's got to improve his 3 point shot.

Fortunately for him, he's going to be paired with KAT for the next 7+ years. Good god is this kid the real deal. As it's been mentioned, his feel for the game, defense, and shooting is pretty insane for someone his size.

KAT is the real deal. He's doing this on a team that makes little sense and has a horrible coach too. Imagine if he had shooters around him? Or a coach that isn't Sam Mitchell?
